Welcome to the 2026 school year!

It is wonderful to see SJV classrooms full of energy and smiles once again. As we transition from the relaxed pace of summer into the rhythm of the new school year, we prioritize the wellbeing of every student as they settle into their new classrooms. Starting the year with a positive mindset and a focus on "belonging" helps our students flourish both academically and spiritually.

To help your child navigate these first few weeks with confidence, here are a few tips for a smooth transition:

  • Establish the "School Sleep" Routine: School can be exhausting so try and keep early  bedtimes to ensure they are getting the rest needed for a full day of learning.

  • The Power of Connection: Ditch "How Was Your Day?" Vague questions get vague answers. Try these prompts that make it easier for them to "zoom in" on a memory:

"What was the funniest thing that happened at recess?"

"What was the hardest thing you had to do today?"

"If you could magic away one part of the school day, what would it be?"

"Who did you help today, or who helped you?"

  • Create a "Launchpad": Reduce morning stress by packing bags and laying out uniforms together the night before.

  • God in the Small Moments: Encourage a moment of gratitude or a short prayer on the way to school to start the day with a calm heart.
