PRINCIPAL UPDATE

I can not believe that we are in the final week of term 3.

It is very evident that our community is ready for a well-earned break over the holiday.

Congratulations to the State School Spectacular team that performed at John Cain arena last weekend.

Sarah and I travelled to Melbourne for this event and were impressed by the talent of close to 3000 state school students which included 20 of our Chilwell children.

It was a wonderful event that had us up in our seats, singing along, so proud of our young people.  I would like to thank Laura and Cassie for their commitment to this event that was near on 7 months in the making that included multiple trips to Melbourne for rehearsals along with extensive hours away from their families and the administration that came with this.  Their commitment to our community is greatly appreciated and acknowledged.

Don’t forget that our classrooms will be open tomorrow afternoon from 3:40pm until 4:40pm in addition to the Expos that some year levels have planned.  Whilst this is informal and students have not extensively planned for this; it is a great opportunity for parents to see learning within books and activities within the classroom.  This change was in relation to feedback from parents stating that they preferred the Parent Teacher Interviews as a priority over Student Led Conferences.  We attempted to balance this, by attempting to align Expos with open classroom afternoon, in addition to the Parent Teacher Interviews in Term 2.

We look forward to seeing you tomorrow afternoon if able.

The plans for the court redevelopment are complete, and we are excited to share this design with families.  The design is currently being created, and we hope to have installation later in Term 4.

I would like to thank Sarah Jeffreys and School Council members for their efforts in relation to this, and most importantly to you as a community for enabling projects like this to take place due to fundraising efforts across the school.  Chilwell Fair, along with other events such as special lunches and the Colour Run, have funded this amazing project.

What an amazing community we have and we can’t wait for everyone to access this development.

A reminder for families to please action the payment for Curriculum Contributions.

If you are yet to do so, payments can be made via Compass or at the Office by instalment or in full.  Payment plans are available upon request - just contact Jacquie Clancy, Business Manager, on 5221 2738.

We will have trades on site over the holidays but ask that you please keep an eye out for our school grounds. If accessing please ensure rubbish is placed in the bin provided, along with no sand being taken near the drink taps.

We are having significant issues with rocks and sand being placed in the Sensory Garden's new kitchen sink etc. out of hours and ask that if families are accessing this space to please ensure little ones are not placing sand, rocks etc. in the sinks.

Students here at school are using this space as we have asked but coming in after the evening or weekends to find blocked drains and sinks.

We appreciate your support with this, as we would not want to close this area to our community.

This Friday we have the Toastie Truck onsite.  For those who have ordered, please ensure children still have snacks, morning recess etc. to go with their toastie.

Orders have now closed, and the Toastie Truck are taking NO further orders.

This day is also a Footy Colours Day (or sporting team colours) and students can wear footy jumpers, guernsey etc.

Due to the fact we have an actioned packed Assembly, we will be commencing Assembly at 1:55pm, a little earlier than usual. Students will be dismissed at the conclusion of term at 2:30pm.

Remember to pack school hats next term, as they need to be worn when students are outside as part of our school's Sunsmart Policy.

Kind regards,

Meg
