Teaching and Learning in Practice 

In Inquiry this term, Year 1/2 students have been learning about different materials; how materials can change, how to mix/combine materials to create something new (eg. ingredients in a recipe) and how to separate materials. 

In class this week, Year 1/2 C students used a sieve to separate solids of different sizes, mixing sand and popcorn kernels in a bowl and sifting the mixture so that the smaller solids (sand grains) fell through, and the larger solids (corn) remained behind.\
