Principal's Message

Dear Students, Parents and Guardians,

The past fortnight has been another wonderful period of activity and celebration at Cobram AGS. Our Book Parade was a fantastic event, with students of all ages showing great enthusiasm, creativity, and a love of reading through their imaginative costumes. It was heartening to see such joy in celebrating literature together as a school community.

We also enjoyed a terrific Father’s Day celebration, with families joining us for a memorable occasion that highlighted the important role fathers and father figures play in the lives of our students.

Excitingly, this week has seen much action down at our Trades Centre, with equipment from the existing Technology Room being moved down to the facility in readiness for classes next term. Computers are also being set up in the classroom space which is starting to look fantastic. Jane our gardener has also done a power of work cleaning out the Ag Garden in preparation for its redevelopment. We are planning to run a Trades Centre Showcase in early Term 4 open to the wider community which will present us with a chance to say thank you to the Trades who have built this wonderful facility. More details about this event will follow next week.

On the sporting front, our students represented the school with distinction at the Divisional Athletics Carnival in Shepparton, performing with determination, skill, and excellent sportsmanship. We are very proud of their achievements and the way they conducted themselves throughout the day.

Yesterday the Year 5/6 students presented their Living Wax Museum, showcasing significant figures from Australia’s Federation and Gold Rush eras. Each student was allocated a historical person and were required to undertake detailed research into the early life, significant contributions, and eventual death of their chosen person.

To display their findings, students created dioramas that were visually engaging and informative. As part of the presentation, each diorama featured a “play” button. When pressed, the student came to life as their chosen figure, delivering a speech in character and dressed in costume. This engaging and interactive project not only highlighted the students’ research skills but also brought history to life in a memorable way for the audience. This activity and research marries beautifully with the cohort's upcoming camp to Ballarat later in Term 4.

As we head into the weekend, I’d like to wish everyone a restful break. To those students participating in local sports finals, best of luck! Enjoy the moment, make the most of the opportunities, and know that your school community is cheering you on.

With regards,

Keith Willett
