Congratulations to Hudson S (2R) for being named this month’s Aussie of the Month! Hudson is a well deserving recipient who consistently demonstrates our school values and is respected by both peers and staff. He is a positive role model, always thoughtful, caring, and supportive of others.
Science is such an important part of learning at POPS! As a science specialist school, every student gets to enjoy rich and engaging science lessons taught by their classroom teachers.
At POPS, we use the Primary Connections program, exploring a new area of science each term, Biological, Earth and Space, Physical, or Chemical. Lessons follow an inquiry approach, where students ask big questions, investigate through hands on activities, and apply their learning in creative ways.
This week our classrooms have been buzzing with scientific fun:
Year 5/6 students finished their unit on microorganisms by making their own bread.
Year 3/4 students explored the properties of packaging materials and then put their knowledge to the test by designing protective packages for the exciting egg drop challenge.
These activities are a fantastic way to bring science to life and show just how much our students love exploring, experimenting, and discovering at POPS!
Yesterday was a special day for our Foundation to Year 2 students as they enjoyed their very own camp day at POPS!
Foundation students joined in fun camping activities, including creating nature-inspired art.
Year 1/2 students began with a scavenger hunt around Park Orchards, then enjoyed cooking, building, games, performing, and even a bear hunt.
The day ended with a BBQ dinner, and for Year 2s, the fun continued with PJs, popcorn, and a cozy movie night.
A big thank you to our dedicated teachers for planning such memorable experiences, and to our wonderful parent volunteers who gave their time to make the day possible.
Our Year 3 campers are having a fantastic time! So far, they’ve enjoyed an exciting mix of activities including the flying fox, frisbee golf, damper making, orienteering, and ropes courses. The beautiful weather has been the perfect backdrop for all their adventures, making the experience even more enjoyable.
A big thank you to our dedicated staff for their care and organisation, and to the wonderful parent volunteers who are helping to make this camp such a memorable one for our students.
What an amazing term it’s been! It’s been a short but very busy term, filled with so many wonderful personal and group achievements. We’re proud of everything our students have accomplished and hope all families enjoy a well deserved break and some special time together.
Take care,
Bronwyn Garrity
