Wellbeing

Dear Parents,
This term, we will be delivering Units 7 and 8 of the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program. These learning materials are designed to support teachers in developing students’ social, emotional, and positive relationship skills. Units 7 and 8 focus on promoting respect and gender equality, while helping students learn how to build and maintain healthy relationships. As a school, we are committed to fostering a culture of respect and equality for all.
Unit 7- Gender and Identity
Focus: Understanding gender stereotypes and how they can limit people’s choices, behaviours, and roles in society.
Key Concepts:
Challenging gender norms and expectations
Respecting diversity in identity and expression
Promoting fairness and inclusion
Unit 8: Positive Gender Relations
Focus: Developing skills to build respectful, equal relationships and challenge gender- based discrimination or violence.
Key Concepts:
Identifying power imbalances in relationships
Standing up to unfair treatment (bystander action)
Promoting respect, safety, and equity
What does this mean from a Catholic perspective?
Jesus was the great includer, often challenging the norms of his time centred on the universal ideas of love and inclusion. Units 7 and 8 cover the key Gospel values of love, justice, kindness and peace. These values are meant to be lived out in daily life, shaping how Christians interact with the world and strive to follow Jesus' example.
