Welcome back everyone to Term 4. Here's hoping for amazing weather so we can spend some time in the sunshine. For our current Grade 6 students, this is their last term in primary school before they move to secondary school where they will experience lots of new and exciting adventures. Enjoy your last term at Rollins and the friendships you have made over the past 7 years.
At Rollins, we work thoughtfully to build future class groupings. Teachers work together forming classes for the coming year. They consider student learning styles, behaviour needs, student personalities, gender and many other factors to create classrooms where students will work well together and with their teacher. It is a complex process. Our goal is always to create the most balanced classes possible.
Parents are invited to advise us of any considerations that they would like us to consider for student placement in 2026. If you would like to take this opportunity, I ask that you provide your thoughts in writing to me, no later than Friday 31st October 2025. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider requests after this date. Please note we cannot meet requests for specific teachers and, although we try our best to meet all requests, we cannot give guarantees. As always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
If your family is moving out of our area or your child will be attending another school in 2026, could you please contact the office and let us know as soon as possible. We have a waiting list of families wanted to enrol in our school.
Term 4 is notoriously a busy term. Each level has sent out a term newsletter last week explaining the “happenings” during Term 4. Please note the excursion dates and place them in your calendar. COMPASS is our main communication method so please check regularly and if you are experiencing any technical issues please contact the office for assistance.
Please note, the last day for students at Rollins P.S will be Wednesday 17th December. Students will be dismissed at 3.30pm. Thursday the 18th December and Friday 19th December are allocated Professional Development days that have been approved by School Council. During these days staff will undertake First Aid qualifications, whole school Literacy and Numeracy planning and preparation for the 2026 school year.
Please note that Wednesday 22nd October is Geelong Cup Day which is a scheduled public holiday in the City of Greater Geelong. Please be aware that as a school we do not have any choice in this matter and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Exciting news for 2 of our staff. Calab Mc Naughton recently married at his Engagement party. We wish him and Monique the very best in their life together. We also have baby news -Leann Dunt became a mum to a beautiful little girl- Sunny. We wish Leann and Riley the very best in their new family life.
Late last term we held a Parent/Guardian session on Body Image and Eating Habits of Adolescents. It was great to see how interested everyone was and hopefully gave us all many insights into how we can support our young people. We hope to hold an additional session for our senior students early next year. Many thanks to those parents who came along that afternoon.
On Tuesday 7th October we were lucky enough to have Kim Keedle ( F1 Performance Coach Oscar Piastri) for a number of years and member of the F1 McLaren Team) visit our school and speak to our senior students on a number of issues including goal setting, persistence, self-confidence, working as a team member, how to adjust when things don’t go to plan as well as many other qualities that are relevant to our young people these days.
In the past few weeks of term 3 the senior students have been involved in Literacy and Numeracy sessions on the F1 and were extremely excited to hear Kim present. Kim was an amazing motivator for our students who listened intently and had many questions of interest.
We also invited the parents or our senior students to this presentation and they too, were keen to be involved and spoke very highly of Kim’s presentation.
There will be a feature article in the Geelong Advertiser in the coming weeks.
