Sustainability

On Thursday, the 11th of September, the Sustainability Leaders and Year Four students from our gardening program caught the train from Sandringham Station to St Kilda Hall (Pia, Em, Lexi, Hunter, Olivia, Georgia, Zara, Mira, Joseph, Arlen, Zac, Isolde, Jemima, Emilia and Odette).
We took part in lots of exciting workshops, including learning how to make sustainable squishies, discovering more about biodiversity in Bayside, and even running our own workshop where we showed others how to make paper burritos (Pop-Out Plants).
Afterwards, we proudly accepted the Future Forests Award on behalf of our school. Then we walked to the Botanical Gardens, where we petted snakes and lizards, collected unique bugs in containers, and even made recyclable chocolate! We also met Raptor, the blue-tongue lizard, and wrote our messages on the Earth Board.
It was a fantastic day, where we became inspired to bring back what we have learnt to our school.
In the end, we all had an amazing day at the Sustainability Festival. A big thank you to all the teachers who came along and supported us.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for supporting our Sustainability Team!
