R U OK DAY?

Acknowledging R U OK? Day at Carnegie Primary School
This Thursday 11th September, our school community will be acknowledging R U OK? Day, a national day of action that reminds us all to check in with the people around us and start a conversation that could make a difference in someone’s life.
At Carnegie Primary, we believe in supporting not only our students’ academic growth but also their wellbeing. R U OK? Day gives us the chance to pause, reflect, and remind ourselves that asking a simple question—“Are you okay?”—can help others feel seen, supported, and cared for.
This important day links closely with our school values:
- Respect – by listening carefully and showing kindness when others share how they are feeling.
- Resilience – by recognising that it’s okay to have tough times and building the strength to seek or accept help.
- Curiosity – by asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in others’ wellbeing.
- Integrity – by being honest about our own feelings and being trustworthy when someone opens up to us.
Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to engage in activities that encourage positive conversations, self-reflection, and connection. These experiences aim to build a culture where checking in on ourselves and each other is part of everyday life.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home. Taking a few minutes to ask, “Are you okay?” could be the first step in helping someone feel supported and valued.
Together, let’s make R U OK? Day a reminder that every day is the right day to reach out, connect, and show that we care.
