Only five more sleeps until the biggest event in our school year – the Carnegie PS Spring Carnival! A huge thank you to our dedicated Carnival Committee for their commitment and organisation. Their amazing. hard work not only helps us raise our school’s profile but also builds a wonderful sense of community. Of course, the funds raised will go straight back into those “extras” that make a big difference for our students at CPS. We can’t wait to see you all there!
It’s not too late to offer your support https://signup.com/go/rfQFDNp
Thank you to our amazing PFA team for organising the Father’s Day Stall. Amanda and I visited the annual event and were greeted by some very happy children who had purchased gifts for their dads. Our fantastic Fathers Day team were busy selling goods and connecting to the community. A huge thank you to these fabulous mums.
Our Science teacher, Mr Nathan, recently launched an exciting challenge for students to showcase their knowledge and creativity using the prompt: “How might humans explore the universe?”
A number of enthusiastic students participated, supported by talented and engaged parents. On Thursday afternoon, it was a delight to visit the displays, meet with students and parents, and share in their excitement for science.
One of our proud students, Samarth, shared his work with remarkable enthusiasm. He designed a detailed diorama featuring all the planets, a space station as seen from the Moon, and a rocket landing among the Moon’s boulders. Samarth contributed by highlighting the way astronauts navigate and land on the moon’s surface.
It was wonderful to witness such creativity, curiosity, and scientific thinking in action!
One of the great joys of my role is seeing the creativity and imagination of our children at play. The attached photograph captures exactly that – students collaborating, designing, and inventing through play. These moments are powerful, as research tells us that loose parts play supports problem-solving, cooperation, and critical thinking, while also sparking joy and curiosity.
However, I have noticed that this wonderful creativity has, at times, come at the expense of caring for our learning spaces and school environment. Over the past week I have spent time visiting classrooms and playground areas, and I will be addressing this with all students at our next whole school assembly.
Our shared responsibility is to ensure that play is not only imaginative, but also safe and respectful. This includes looking after our school’s vegetation and equipment, and caring for the spaces we all enjoy.
To support this, I am inviting students to:
These donations will be stored safely in the sheds beside the sandpits, ensuring all students have access and that the equipment is used responsibly.
Last Monday, our new OSHC provider, Team Kids, officially launched – and what an amazing start for the students it has been! Initial feedback from our students has been overwhelmingly positive. The team has created engaging opportunities for our students, from sensory activities and play-based learning, to a cosy lounge reading area and more. I must admit, the launch breakfast was also a highlight – pancakes with mixed berries, maple syrup, and yoghurt were hard to resist!
We’re very much looking forward to building a terrific partnership with Team Kids and seeing this program flourish. Our students truly deserve the best, and it’s exciting to know they’re in good hands.
As a component of the School Review 2025, Minimum Standards for School Registration, the school’s policy subcommittee has been busy reviewing existing policies.
The following policies have been reviewed and are available via our school website:
