Education Week 2026
Next week we celebrate Education Week across Vicoria, running from Monday 18th May - Friday 22nd May. At Albion North we will be celebrating throughout the week with a range of whole school activities, including a Math morning activity on Tuesday where there will also be a coffee van at the school, a whole school literacy activity on Wednesday as well as having a Junior School Council planned 'Silly Socks Day' on Thursday where students and staff are encouraged to wear the 'silliest' socks they have as well as having the opportunity to purchase an iced donut at the canteen as part of the JSC fundraising event.
During the following week National Simultaneous Storytime takes place on Wednesday, 27 May 2026 at 12:00 pm. Across the country this is when this year's slected picture story book - Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller - will be read.
We look forward to these exciting special events over the next two weeks. Further information will be sent home with the students.
National Walk Safely to School Day
National Walk Safely to School Day is being held next Friday 22nd May. This is a focused day to encourage students and their families to walk safely and regularly to school. The benefits of this include building confidence while being supported and supervised, improving concentration and establishing healthy habits and choices for our every day life. Being active before school is also linked to students being more focused, productive and supports the students' ability to perform in the classroom.
If possible please encourage and support your child/ren to participate by walking to school on the 22nd May in particular but also on a regular basis if it is possible to promote a healthy and active habit.
Road Safety - Bikes and Scooters
A reminder that is a legal requirement that helmets must be worn when riding a bicycle, e-scooter or human powered scooter wile out in public. Not doing so could potentially results in a fine. More importantly however is the safety of the students. Whilst we love to see them actively riding and walking to school it is essential that they do so safely. Unfortunately we cannot always predict what will happen on the roads and footpaths, including cars entering and exiting driveways. We therefore are asking for the assistance of parents and carers to ensure anyone riding bikes and scooters to school are wearing an appropriate fitting helmet.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
