Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brigid’s,
Thank you to Elies ( Tahlia, Zara and Evie’s dad) who has kindly completed linemarking across the road. It has made such a difference for the children to have a ‘real’ pitch and oval to play footy and soccer.

Sadly our District Cross Country was postponed today but given the awful weather we are happy to be inside. As always safety is our first concern. The event has now been rescheduled for next Thursday 14th of May. We had a wonderful turn out for our Cross Country training, thank you to the parents who got up early to bring their children to training.
To our students, we couldn’t be prouder! You have trained so well and we cannot wait to see how you go next week!
A big thank you to Hannah for organising the training sessions and Cathryn and her team of merry helpers making the team breakfast. We all enjoyed our toast, muesli bar and juice.
We are looking forward to our Mother's Day Breakfast tomorrow. Thank you to Giselle and the team for organising the breakfast and raffle prizes. The Coffee Cart is booked and ready to go.

Congratulations to our Year 4 students who celebrated the Sacrament of Eucharist on Sunday. It was so lovely to see the joy and reverence on each child’s face when they received the Eucharist for the first time. Thanks to Jodie for organising such a wonderful Mass. Thank you to the staff who attended on the day and helped out with all the jobs. Thank you to Fr Michael who spoke so kindly to the children and made the occasion so warm and welcoming.
We are once again playing interschool sports. Just a reminder to all, about sportsmanship when participating or spectating. At no stage should we be yelling at the children to tackle or question the umpire's decision. We are doing the best we can, and our main aim is for children to enjoy the sport and show good sportsmanship. Getting a win is a bonus!
We have such different rules at school compared to weekend sports so please be mindful that the game is not played the same as on the weekend.
As you are all aware Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) have generated a photo permisssion policy for all Catholic schools. The policy and subsequent permission form for photos puts all media together eg newsletters, publications, websites and social media.
If you have said no to the photo permission form that means your child’s photo cannot be used at all.
It had become so very difficult for us to navigate previously when parents said yes and no across various publications.
This can be difficult for your child to navigate as well as they may feel left out because we remove them from the photo being taken. We explain to them it is your parents choice and it is about keeping them safe.

This week we are looking at Child Safe Standard 4. Please click here for the link to the MACS Parent/Carer Newsletter.
At St Brigid’s we take the care and safety of each student seriously. Our rooms are very open with a lot of glass so everyone can be seen. Our teachers and ESO all have WWC and valid police checks. At no time is a staff member with a child on their own without being in visual sight of another staff member.

Playgroup has resumed this term and runs every Monday from 9:00am–10:30am. If you know any families with pre-school-aged children, please encourage them to join us.
Our Tuckshop will reopen for Term 2 - TOMORROW.
We look forward to seeing 5/6F at Assembly tomorrow. All are welcome to join us in Brigid Hall at 2:15pm.

This Sunday, I’m looking forward to sharing time with my mum, and to acknowledging the ‘other mothers’ in my life — the ones who show up with care and support, not out of obligation, but by choice.
Motherhood is hard to capture in just a few words.
For me, motherhood surfaces many different emotions — connection, love, affection, commitment, responsibility, confusion — sometimes all in the same breath!
It can feel joyful or challenging, simple or complex, depending on the day. And so much of it goes unseen — many behind-the-scenes moments are rarely photographed, but deeply felt.
This Mother’s Day, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank you for showing up - unseen - for the mothers and children in our ministries. Your care and compassion matter more than words can say.
Wishing all our Mothers a very Happy Mother's Day on Sunday.
Yours in partnership.
