Principal Reflections

Dear Parents and Carers,
Congratulations Jordy
Congratulations to Jordan in 2I, who has been recognised as the winner of the Infants category in the '2026 Students As Authors' Writing Competition with his story titled 'My Adventures with Extinct Animals!' This is an incredible achievement, particularly with 124 entries submitted from schools across the Diocese.
Jordan will now have the exciting opportunity to work alongside Armidale Illustrator Trish Donald to transform his story into a published eBook to be shared through the SORA digital library platform, reaching students across 15 Catholic Dioceses in Australia.
We are incredibly proud of Jordan’s creativity, imagination, and dedication to writing, and we congratulate him on this wonderful accomplishment.
Thank you to Jordan and his family, Miss Hall and Mrs Michell for supporting Jordy with entering his outstanding story.
Winter Uniform
We wish to advise parents that the official date for changeover from summer to winter uniform is generally after the June long weekend (Tuesday 9th June). However, as the weather has turned a little cooler in the morning, we are now allowing students to wear either a full winter (INCLUDING A TIE) or a full summer uniform during this transition period. School uniform items are available for purchase from LOWES in Tamworth. Thank you for your ongoing support in ensuring your child wears the correct uniform to school.
Celebrating Our Commitment to Learning
I want to extend a sincere thank you to all our parents and students for the positive start we have made with school attendance. Currently, St Ed’s has an attendance rate of 91% and an attendance level of 70%.
While these figures reflect the strong commitment many of our families show towards education, they also remind us that there is still room for growth (particularly in attendance level) as we strive for even better outcomes for all students.
Regular attendance is vital. When students are at school every day, they are not only keeping up with their learning, but are also building the social connections, confidence, and routines that allow them to truly thrive. By continuing to work together, we can further strengthen attendance and ensure every child has the best opportunity to succeed.
# Attendance Rate: The number of days attended as a percentage of the total number of days.
# Attendance Level: The proportion of students whose attendance rate is equal to or greater than 90%.
Have a wonderful week.
Keep smiling,
Alison Hatton
(Principal)
