Last week, our Foundation students had an exciting visit from Mad About Science for their Wicked Weather incursion! The session was packed with fun, hands-on learning and gave students the opportunity to explore the fascinating world of weather and science.
Students were amazed as they discovered how different weather events occur and participated in exciting demonstrations that brought science to life. There were plenty of gasps, laughter and wide eyes as students experienced interactive experiments and learned about the forces behind wind, storms and other weather phenomena.
The incursion provided a wonderful opportunity for students to ask questions, make predictions and develop their curiosity about the world around them. It was fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, excitement and engagement throughout the session.
A big thank you to Mad About Science for delivering such an entertaining and educational experience. Our Foundation students had an amazing time and walked away with lots of new knowledge and smiles on their faces!

We Went to Sovereign Hill! I know I make it seem like an ‘overreaction’ but it was great. We left at 7:30am… Boo! It was so early. The Traffic was horrible, but the camp was so much fun! Wait… what's that?… you want to hear about the activities?
3 hours on the bus! It took forever but we finally made it to… Sovereign Hill! First, we were going to the Eureka Center! We learnt about the Sovereign Hill battle! Miners vs The Government! The miners wanted rights to mine and not pay a fee of thousands of dollars!! We also learnt about the souvenir cross flag! Three women sewed the flag in secret, only by candle light! Women are important too! The flag went to an art gallery where people cut off bits of the flag to give to guests.
Next, we went to the wildlife park! There, we got to have close up animal encounters! We saw tigers and crocodiles and even got to hand feed kangaroos!! We took a big class photo but… my beautiful lovely jeans got muddy, Nooo! We had a great time. We also saw penguins, dingos, Tasmanian devils and probably some more but I forgot…
‘Crunch, Crunch Crunch!’ The ground was gravel beneath us. Mrs Wilson and Mrs Peace Stirling led the way to a carpark where we had to sit down and wait for Mr Freake to sign us into our rooms, but… Mrs Wilson and Mrs Peace Stirling told us who was in our cabins!! Yes!! Macie, Imi, Summer and me Rylee in cabin six, I got all of my friends!, but now… we have to unpack.. AUGH!. I had to painfully drag my luggage down the stairs and into our room… But it was locked! A teacher had to unlock it, Finally , we came in and unpacked our stuff and made our beds. At 6:30PM we went down to have our yummy dinner! It was so good! We had 2 sausages, a slice of bread, mashed potato and peas… I hate peas.. I got mine first since I'm dairy free.. The others stalked me while I ate.. Macie stole the last piece of bread, but Imi was actually starving! But then… Hallelujah dessert! I got a meringue with raspberry topping… It was so good! While the others got pavlova. I ate mine in like 30 seconds… oh and by the way we ate at the New York bakery…
After dinner, we went to the Aura light show. We got these special effect glasses for the big screen and we watched a little introduction to the show. Then we hopped on these little buses that took us to a little area where we had to stand and watch the nature show about an Aboriginal bird. We hopped onto the little buses to go see a little play thing about sovereign hill about miners vs the government, like I mentioned earlier… It's been like 2 hours and the show is finally finished! It was so good and no… I'm not being sarcastic.
We rode the little buses back to the cabins where we went to bed and had a peaceful sleep… NO not even close… we were talking so loud that a teacher heard us and said that we needed to go to bed. It was around 9:00 when we came back and I fell asleep around 10:00 and 10:30 …. We all went silent and that is when I fell asleep…. NO there is still more to tell. I woke up at 4:30am then at 5;30am Only a 60 minute difference!!! Then I sort of just stayed up until the others were awake..
Camp was amazing, now that you heard all of my fun adventures I'm sure you will want to come as well! And I'm sure you noticed that I did not mention the 2nd day so.. This is what we did… gold tour, gold panning, candle making, gold dipping and we also did education sessions! That's all that we did, and on the 3rd day we also went shopping. Camp was Amazing.

Last week, students enjoyed a fun-filled PJ & Popcorn Day, proudly organised and run by our Student Engagement Leaders. The school was filled with comfy pyjamas, big smiles and the delicious smell of freshly made popcorn as students embraced the day and got into the spirit of the event.
The day was a wonderful success, and it was fantastic to see so many students participating and supporting the initiative. Events like these not only create fun memories for our students but also help build a strong sense of school community.
Thanks to the incredible support from our students and families, we are excited to share that we raised $X towards improvements to our student bike shed! These funds will help make positive changes to an area used by many of our students each day.
A huge congratulations and thank you to our Student Engagement Leaders for their hard work in organising the event and to everyone who supported the day. We can't wait to see what exciting ideas they come up with next!

This week, our Grade 1 students proudly began their very first homework project! Their task is to interview a special adult in their life and discover what life was like when they were a child. Students explored questions about what was different back then, including school life, favourite toys and games, technology, clothing, and everyday activities.
This exciting project gives students the opportunity to compare life “then and now” while hearing stories and learning more about the important people around them. We hope families enjoy sharing memories and helping our young learners discover how much the world has changed over time.

The Year 6 students worked collaboratively to produce this mural and then worked independently to
create their own version of ‘Starry Night’. They also enjoyed learning some art history along the way!
