Enrolments and School Tours
Our Foundation 2027 tours are well underway, with strong interest being shown in our school by prospective families. We encourage families to complete enrolments online by July 31st as we start our workforce planning for 2027 in term 3. Should families require assistance with the enrolment process or additional information, please contact the school office.
Facilities and Grounds Update
*roof works in the middle school area to commence in June
*discussions with the department about the underground drain between the pool and school are underway
*basketball court upgrade due to start in September
*bike shed upgrade. The PJ and Popcorn Day raised over $800 towards the project and we are applying for external grants to cover the shortfall. We hope to have this completed by the end of term 3
Community Events and Fundraising
Our Mother’s Day Event was an outstanding success, with more than 400 visitors attending throughout the morning. As this was the first time we had organised an event of this nature to strengthen community engagement, it was extremely pleasing to receive such positive feedback from families.
Families particularly valued the opportunity to visit classrooms, participate in activities with their children, take family photos and enjoy time together within the school environment. The morning tea, flowers and coffee were great additions. While some families missed the traditional gift stall, we also recognise these activities can provide valuable opportunities for children and fathers to share experiences together. Our primary focus, however, was strengthening community connection and engagement. We will survey families prior to the Father’s Day Event next term to better understand the type of event and activities that would best meet community interests and expectations.
Our Student Engagement Leaders are currently assisting with the promotion of the Krispy Kreme Donut Fundraiser. They will also play an important leadership role during the upcoming Krispy Kreme and Slushy Day event, with possible parent support assisting with organisation and operations on the day.
We were also pleased to welcome representatives from Dolly’s Dream to work with our senior students. Dolly's Dream is a nationally recognised, evidence-based anti-bullying organisation dedicated to creating safer and more supportive environments for young people.
Year 5 students recently participated in their THRIVE Day, engaging in a range of wellbeing curriculum activities designed to strengthen resilience, emotional awareness and positive relationships. Year 6 students also visited EMC to gain valuable insight into secondary school life and begin preparing for their transition to high school.
Excitement is continuing to build around “Langy’s Got Talent,” with a large number of entries received for the heats. A schedule has now been developed to support the organisation of performances.
As part of Education Week and the statewide theme “It’s All Here,” we will be hosting an EXPO afternoon where families are invited to visit classrooms between 3:00 pm and 4:45 pm to celebrate and explore student learning across the school.
We sincerely appreciate the collective efforts of our staff, families and community members. Many hands truly do make light work. If you are interested in organising or supporting future school events, please contact me to discuss opportunities for involvement.
Student Safety
Student safety remains a key priority for our school. We ask all families to support safe practices by:
- Avoiding parking on school grounds during school hours
- Not walking children through car park areas
- Using designated WAIT ZONES and ensuring children remain behind the fence until collection
- Using the supervised school crossing and traffic lights when crossing roads near the school
Your support with these expectations assists us in maintaining a safe environment for all students and families.
Families are encouraged to utilise our multiple access points, including North Gateway, Jackson Drive and Bush Court/Burgess Drive, to support safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up procedures.
Events and Deadlines
This year we have strengthened our processes to ensure excursions, incursions and camps are well organised and clearly communicated through Compass, emails, classroom posters and the newsletter. Families are reminded to regularly check Compass, as reminders and deadlines are communicated in advance and late approvals or payments are rarely possible due to external provider requirements and event logistics. Payment plans remain available for families requiring support.
Please also ensure you read our Camps and Excursions Policy. We work hard to keep camp costs as affordable as possible for families. In many cases, members of the principal team also attend camps and undertake full duties to assist in reducing staffing costs for families.
Families should be aware that camps operate under strict financial and organisational regulations, including non-refundable payment deadlines, generally two weeks prior to camp attendance.
If a camp or excursion is cancelled or altered by the school, or a student is unable to attend part or all of the program, requests for partial or full refunds will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the individual circumstances. However, in most situations the school is unable to refund payments that have already been paid to external providers or committed to camp-related expenses.
Make sure you keep an eye out for our upcoming events.
Our Year 6 campers return from The Summit today. I will be sending out a survey next week to Years 3/4/5 parents to get your feedback on which year levels should have camps in 2027 so we can start planning.
Thank you for your continued support of our school and wider community
Kind regards,
Deb Haddow
Principal
