Principal's Report

It certainly has been a big and exciting week at Rosanna Golf Links Primary School! Yesterday, our Mother’s Day Stall was in full swing, with students enthusiastically selecting special gifts to celebrate the important women in their lives. Earlier in the week, we also welcomed many of our mums and special people to a fun Movie Night, where we enjoyed The Devil Wears Prada 2 together and reflected, with plenty of laughs along the way, on the idea that balancing it all is no easy feat!

A huge thank you must go to our Golf Links Community Group for organising these wonderful movie events. It has been lovely to see members of our community enjoy a well-deserved night out, leave the house for a few hours and simply relax together at the movies. Saturday will mark our second Movie Night and provides another fantastic opportunity to celebrate our mums by giving them a well-earned evening off.

To all of the incredible mums, grandmothers and special carers in our community, we wish you a very happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. Thank you for all that you do to support, nurture and care for our students each and every day.

Child Safe Requirements for Attendance During School Events

As interschool sport commences this term, we know many families are eager to come along and support and cheer on our students. We absolutely value this involvement and the strong sense of community it creates. However, it is important to note that all schools are required to comply with the Victorian Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order 1359, underpinned by the Worker Screening Act 2020. These requirements place a clear obligation on schools to ensure that all volunteers, visitors and adults engaging in child-related or child-connected activities hold a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC).

While this requirement is not enforced during assemblies or classroom special events where students remain under the direct and constant supervision of teaching and support staff, it must be enforced during all other school activities, including interschool sport and excursions.

If you are planning to attend interschool sport to support students, you must first sign in through the school office. Our sign-in system will request your WWCC details and will automatically verify the validity of your card. This process is an important part of our commitment to maintaining a strong culture of child safety and ensuring we meet our legal obligations as a school.

 Student Attitudes to School Survey

We value student voice as an important way to strengthen engagement, wellbeing and the quality of teaching and learning at our school. As part of this, we will be participating in the Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS).

The AtoSS is an annual survey provided by the Department of Education, designed to help schools better understand students’ experiences and perceptions of school. Students are asked about a range of areas including their learning, relationships with peers, resilience, bullying, health and wellbeing, physical activity, and life in general.

Detailed information about the survey, including administration dates, participating year levels (Years 4–6), and opt-out options, has been sent directly to families via Compass. We encourage you to take the time to read through this information.

Education Week

Education Week is an annual celebration of public education in Victoria, recognising the incredible work happening in our schools every day. In 2026, Education Week will run from Monday 18 May to Friday 22 May.

This year’s theme, “Showcase your school,” invites school communities to celebrate what makes their school special. Every Victorian school is unique—whether it’s the people, the environment, the learning opportunities, or the strong sense of community.

We are looking forward to celebrating everything that makes Golf Links such a wonderful place to learn and grow. Stay tuned for a rundown of the exciting activities we have planned for the week!

Camp Australia

We would like to provide families with a brief update regarding some recent changes communicated by Camp Australia.

You may have noticed that Camp Australia has introduced a $25 annual booking fee. Through their contract with Rosanna Golf Links Primary School, Camp Australia had previously agreed that there would be no administrative fees charged to families. Camp Australia have advised that this new charge is considered a booking fee rather than an administrative fee. We did raise concerns with Camp Australia regarding the wording and the potential confusion this may cause for families, and they have agreed to alter the written component of future communications to provide greater clarity.

Additionally, there has been a small increase to payment processing charges due to rising banking costs. Payments made via credit or debit card have increased from 0.635% to 0.75%, while payments made through a bank account will now incur a $0.24 fee. Camp Australia has advised that these changes are in line with increased banking and transaction fees.

We appreciate families’ understanding and will continue to work closely with Camp Australia to advocate for clear communication and the best possible service for our community.
