3/4 Classrooms

Grade 3/4 classrooms have been busy following Alison Lester’s story Are We There Yet? as we travel around Australia through our learning. Students have been exploring states and territories, capital cities, rivers, landmarks, monuments and, of course, the fun activities and attractions found at each destination.
English
In English, students have been learning how to make their writing more interesting and precise by using relating verbs (e.g. is, are, has and have) and topic-specific vocabulary. They have been researching, taking notes, planning, drafting and publishing information texts. Alongside writing paragraphs, students have been presenting information through brochures, posters and maps as they prepare for our Travel Expo at the end of the term.
Spanish
In Spanish classrooms, students have been working on information texts, focusing on Australian landmarks and animals.
Maths
For the past three weeks, students have been focusing on addition and subtraction during Tier 2 mathematics. They have shown resilience and flexibility while working in different classrooms and have made great progress. Next week, students will return to learning mathematics in their regular classrooms as we begin working on times tables and multiplication strategies.
Camp
The camp countdown is on! In just 26 days, we will be hopping on the buses and heading to The Ranch for a big adventure. All students should have brought home a packing list, and now is a great time to ensure your child has all the items they will need for camp.
A reminder that students are not to bring electronics, bathers or any extra food to camp. Students will need to bring their own lunch and afternoon snacks for the first day, as the first camp meal provided on the first day will be dinner. We are looking forward to an exciting few days filled with fun, learning and new experiences.
