On Thursday 11 June, our interschool hockey team faced a tough challenge against Gleneagles in a fiercely contested match. Both teams displayed outstanding skill, determination, and sportsmanship, making for an exciting game that went right down to the wire. Our team worked cohesively throughout the match, demonstrating excellent communication, resilience, and team spirit.

Captain Ridith Banerjee led valiantly and scored our only field goal, assisted by a clever infield pass from Kaushik Muthukumaran that helped create the decisive opportunity. With the scores level at full time, the match was decided by penalties, where goalkeeper Aayan Surani produced a heroic performance by saving every Gleneagles attempt. Hari Purushothaman then calmly converted the winning penalty to secure victory.

It was a memorable match that showcased the unity, character, and determination of both teams.

Thank you to Ms Clarkson for coaching the team.

After learning how to use the wheelchairs, we played a game of wheelchair basketball. Although the rules were different to what we were used to, many of us found it fun to be able to experience something new.

Intermediate Boys Soccer

On Tuesday 23 June, our 17-player squad travelled to Casey Fields to compete in the Casey North Division Intermediate Boys Soccer tournament, with another student supporting the team from the sidelines.

The day began with an unlucky 2–1 loss to Hallam after a closely contested match. We then faced Gleneagles, who eventually won the tournament, and were defeated 2–0. With three matches left, we knew we had to win the rest if we wanted a good result.

Although we were disappointed with our start, we remained positive and believed we could finish the day strongly. After making a few tactical changes, we found our rhythm and started playing with more confidence. We bounced back with an outstanding 4–1 victory over Doveton, then fought hard for a 3–2 win against Lysterfield. In our final match, we secured a 2–1 victory over Berwick, earning us second place overall out of six schools.

Our whole squad played their part throughout the tournament. We were proud of the way we responded after a difficult start to the day and we would like to thank Mr Pritchard for coaching and supporting us throughout the tournament.
