Kindy Community Helpers Incursion & Dress Up Day

As part of Community Helpers Topic, our Kindy students enjoyed a visit incursion focused on helping them understand what to expect should they go to hospital.
During the incursion, students explored hospital equipment in a safe and playful way. They had the opportunity to use items such as bandages, stethoscopes, and medical uniforms.
The presenter spoke with the children about why people go to hospital, explaining that hospitals are places where doctors and nurses care for us when we are unwell or need extra help. Importantly, the students were reassured that hospitals are safe places, and that there are many friendly people there whose job is to help.
It was a wonderful learning experience, and hopefully we have inspired some future doctors, nurses and paramedics.
As part of our Community Helpers inquiry, the Kindy children were thrilled to welcome members of the police force to our school. This special visit provided a valuable and engaging learning experience, allowing the children to gain insight into the important role police officers play in keeping our community safe. The officers spoke to the children about what it is like to be a police officer, sharing stories and answering many curious questions.
The children were especially excited to explore the police vehicle as well as some of the equipment used by police. This hands-on experience helped to deepen their understanding and sparked lots of enthusiastic discussion. One of the most memorable moments of the visit was when the police activated the siren, which created great excitement and joy among the children. It was a fantastic incursion, and we are very thankful to the families who helped provide us with this opportunity.
