As we reach the end of Week 10 of what has been a busy and rewarding 11-week term, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students, staff and community throughout Term 2.

This term has been filled with rich learning experiences, sporting opportunities, creative performances, excursions and special events, all of which have showcased the talents, dedication and growth of our students. We are incredibly proud of the resilience, effort and positive attitudes demonstrated by our students each day, as well as the commitment of our staff in providing engaging and supportive learning environments.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to our families for your continued support and partnership. Your involvement, encouragement and collaboration contribute greatly to the success of our students and the strength of our school community.

While we still have one more week of learning and celebration ahead of us, we would like to wish all students, families and staff a safe, happy and restful Winter holiday break. The final day of Term 2 for students is Friday, 3 July 2026, with students returning for Term 3 on Tuesday, 21 July 2026.

Thank you for making Term 2 such a successful and memorable term. We look forward to finishing strongly next week and welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning.

Staffing Update

As we approach the end of Term 2, we have some staffing updates to share with our school community.

Firstly, we would like to congratulate Mrs Tracey Cresnar on her appointment as a permanent Preschool Teacher at Shortland Public School. This is a wonderful achievement, and we are incredibly proud of Tracey as she takes this next step in her career.

Sadly, this means Mrs Cresnar will be leaving Edgeworth Public School at the end of the term. Throughout her time with us, Tracey has made a significant contribution to our Preschool and wider school community through her dedication, care and commitment to providing high-quality learning experiences for our youngest learners. She will be greatly missed by students, families and staff alike. We thank Tracey for her service to Edgeworth Public School and wish her every success and happiness in her new role.

We would also like to warmly welcome Mrs Rachel Hancock, who will be joining our Preschool team. Rachel will be teaching Preschool on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and we look forward to her becoming part of the Edgeworth Public School community.

Additionally, we would like to wish Mrs Theresa Blair all the very best as she undertakes the role of Relieving School Administrative Manager at Dora Creek Public School for the remainder of the year. We thank Theresa for her ongoing contribution to our school and know she will be a valuable asset to the Dora Creek Public School team.

Please join us in congratulating Tracey and Theresa on their new opportunities and in welcoming Rachel to Edgeworth Public School Preschool. 

Athletics Carnival

On Monday, our school held a highly successful Athletics Carnival, with students demonstrating enthusiasm, determination and outstanding sportsmanship throughout the day.

It was wonderful to see so many students actively participating in events, challenging themselves and celebrating their achievements. One of the highlights of the carnival was the way students encouraged and supported one another, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere where everyone felt valued and motivated to do their best.

We were also delighted to welcome so many parents and carers who attended the day. Your support and encouragement helped make the event even more special for our students and contributed to the positive community spirit that was evident throughout the carnival.

A big thank you to our staff, parents and carers for helping to make the day such a success. We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented our school through their participation, teamwork and sportsmanship.

NAIDOC Week

In Week 11, from Monday 29 June to Thursday 2 July 2026, our school will be celebrating NAIDOC Week through a range of activities and learning experiences that recognise and celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We would also like to warmly invite families and community members to join us for several special events, including our Opening Ceremony, PLP Meeting, Closing Ceremony and Yarn Up. Further details can be found in the invitation below.

We look forward to celebrating NAIDOC Week together and sharing these meaningful experiences with our students, families and community.

Top Blokes Program

Congratulations to our Year 5 and Year 6 boys who successfully completed the Top Blokes program this term.

Throughout the program, students participated in a range of workshops and discussions designed to build confidence, resilience, leadership skills and positive relationships. The boys demonstrated maturity, respect and a willingness to engage in meaningful conversations about making positive choices and becoming strong role models within our school community.

We are incredibly proud of the commitment and growth shown by all participants during the program. The skills and strategies they have developed will support them both at school and beyond.

Thank you to the facilitators, staff and families who supported our students throughout the program. We congratulate all graduates on this wonderful achievement and look forward to seeing them continue to demonstrate the values and leadership qualities fostered through Top Blokes.

Parking and Pick-Up Safety Reminder

The safety of our students, staff and families is always our highest priority. We would like to remind all parents and carers that the school staff carparks are not to be used for student pick-up or drop-off.

The only exception is for parents and carers who have been issued with a school-approved disability parking pass. These passes are provided for specific students with additional needs and must be displayed when using the designated parking area.

Parents and carers are also reminded that parking is not permitted in the Fair Play OOSH carpark unless you are specifically collecting your child from the Fair Play service.

In addition, no parents or carers are to pick up students from the Bus Bay. Parents and carers should not enter the school grounds via Renfrew Crescent unless they are collecting their child from the Fair Play area.

These procedures are in place to ensure the safety of all students, staff and visitors and to minimise traffic hazards around the school grounds. We appreciate your cooperation and support in following these expectations and helping us maintain a safe environment for everyone.
