Dear Parents and Friends,
Welcome Back - I hope you all had an amazing break. For those who went away for the holidays, I hope you had a fantastic adventure. For those of you who stayed home, I hope you had a lovely time spending it with family and friends. It was great to hear all the adventures the children had during their holidays.
And now, we are back and Week 1 is all but finished. We have a shorter term of 10 weeks, but we have certainly packed it full of fun times and great learning and as we have done for the last two terms, we will finish off the 10 weeks of learning with our Celebration of Learning on Monday 16th September.
Tonight, our Year 6 students will be participating in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Congratulations to the following children.
Ana, Eden, Stephanie, Ethan, Chloe, Mikki, Josh, Harry, Sasha, Sammy, Mikey, Max, Kirra, Jack and Finnley.
Grace, Jaxon and Declan will receive a blessing.
Hugo and Havana are both on extended holidays.
The Year 6 students very much enjoyed meeting Bishop Tony Ireland on Tuesday. Bishop Tony will be anointing our children during the Masst.
Our Student Led Conferences will be held face to face here at school next week on Tuesday 23rd, 2pm - 8.00pm and Wednesday 24th July, 3.30pm - 6.00pm in the classrooms. CLICK HERE to make a booking. Booking Code is bacjk. Bookings close at 9:00am on Monday morning. A reminder that SCHOOL FINISHES AT 1:30PM ON TUESDAY 23 JULY. TheirCare will be operating from 1:30pm - Bookings now open.
A friendly reminder that these interviews are strictly 15 minutes only (10 minutes with the parents and child and 5 minutes with just the parents). In order to be respectful to all, teachers will be adhering to these time limits and will remind you when the interview is coming to a close. If you feel that you still need to further discuss anything, please make an alternative time to meet.
Our aim is to establish and maintain collaborative relationships between parents, teacher and student, regarding their academic achievement, learning and wellbeing.
We look forward to welcoming our Grandparents/Grand Friends next Friday 16th of July. We will be starting at 9:00am with a whole school Liturgy in Brigid Hall, to be followed by visits to the classroom and morning tea. Our morning will conclude at 10:45am.
Families are asked to respond via the Operoo invitation sent earlier this week so that we can have numbers for catering purposes. Please RSVP by Wednesday 24 July.
We would love families to send through some photos of your grandparents or grand friends for us to use in a powerpoint during our Liturgy. Please email any photos to Jodie Marziano by tomorrow - jmarziano@sbmord.catholic.edu.au.
Angela Kavadias (5/6K) is on Long Service Leave for all of Term 3. Marg De Vries be taking 5/6K for the first 3 weeks of Term 3 and then Jane Janz will be teaching 5/6K for the remainder of the term. Both Marg and Jane are regular replacement teachers at St Brigid’s and know the students and routines very well. Welcome back to both Marg and Jane.
Children in Years 3 and 5 reporting packages were delivered to our school and were sent home with Students on Monday. Student achievement in NAPLAN is reported using proficiency standards for each assessment area at each year level. The standards are set at a challenging but reasonable expectation of what students know and can do at the time of testing. There are 4 proficiency levels:
Click here for a short video for parents to understand how to read their child's NAPLAN results.
Thank you to Chantel (Eva Year 4) and her business partner from Skilled Legal Pty Ltd for the very kind donating a new 'easy to assemble' Gazebo for St Brigid's to use at outdoor events.
Chantel and Deb are Property Law and Conveyancing experts specialising in both residential and commercial property matters.
We will be introducing our new ‘Light the Way’ Award this term. Our first awards will be presented this Friday at our assembly. There will be 2 Awards per assembly, one for the F-2 level and one for the 3-6 level.
The attributes we are looking for are:
Congratulations to our Aussie of the Month winners - Mekhi S (2F) - May & Gemma L (5/6C) June. Gemma and Mekhi received their awards at our final Assembly for Term 2.
Mekihi involves himself in classroom activities and sharing his valuable thoughts and ideas. Mekhi is always helping his teachers by seeing what needs to be done in advance and always volunteering to help. He assists his peers and is a good sportsman during playtimes.
Gemma is kind and considerate, always thinking of others. She shows respect to teachers and peers, always with a smile on her face.
Congrautlations to our two very deserving winners.
Well done to the fundraising team who have worked so hard to achieve our first goal of buying some Lego Spike Essentials (Robotic sets). The children will start to enjoy them this term!
Our next fundraising goal is to purchase 1 or 2 easy to assemble gazebos for the staff to take to sporting events and other activities. We have costed them and they are approximately $1000 each. See our Thank You to Skilled Legal!
Reminder to please fill out the survey that was sent out via Audiri yesterday. We really need a confirmed number of people attending in order to make sure the night is successful. Can you please fill out the survey by Monday 22nd July. Thank you in advance for your support.
Good luck to Elies El Chaar (Tahlia Year 1) dad who is representing Australia in the Touch World Cup. Currently Elies is in England competing against other countries.
What is Touch?
Touch is an exciting and inclusive game played by teams of six players that promotes the fundamental skills of running, passing, catching, evasion, and support play.
Played by participants of all ages and genders, Touch develops basic attack and defence skills in a minimal contact environment.
Currently, Elies has played 3 of 3 games and has scored twice!! We are very proud to call Elies one of ours!
Once again we have a very busy and exciting calendar for Term 3. Parents are asked to read the Dates for your Diary published each week in the Newsletter/Student Newsletter as the calendar is constantly evolving.
A reminder that there is also a link to the school calendar on our Audiri App and the School Website. Click here for the link to our calendar.

Just a quick reminder to families that our Audiri App is an integral part of our communication with families. Please make sure you have the app installed on your phone and that you allow notificiations. See instruction guide below and search for St Brigid's School Mordialloc. Did you know that you can submit absentee and holiday absentee notes via the Audiri App? Just click on the forms tab.
It's also a good time to double check that you have your child's year levels set correctly so you are getting the notifications that are relevant to your family. Just click on the Resources button at the bottom of the screen, select groups and trun on the year levels your child/ren are in.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out to Tracey and she can assist you with any app enquiries.
As we begin Semester 2 it is timely to remind families that we have a number of students in school with a severe allergies to nuts; eggs, dairy and kiwi fruit. Touching these items, as well as ingestion, may provoke a severe reaction. Whilst we do not specially ban any foods from being brought to school, in the interests of keeping everyone safe we do ask the following:
Nuts: We ask parents to avoid sending products containing nuts to school in an effort to limit the chances of these children being exposed to nuts.
Eggs and Dairy: We realise it is impossible to avoid products baked with eggs in lunchboxes. Therefore, we request that you speak to your child about the importance of not sharing their food with other students in the classroom; this message will also be reinforced by the classroom teachers.
Kiwi Fruit: We ask parents to avoid sending Kiwi fruit to school in an effort to limit the chances of exposure.
We thank you in advance for your consideration in making the school environment safe for all our students.
