PTW: Beautiful Dale Chihuly-inspired Sculptures

Our Prep students have created stunning sculptures inspired by Dale Chihuly. They made trees and figures using pipe cleaners, pom poms, and beads. Each student threaded foam shapes onto wire to complete their unique pieces. You should be proud of your amazing work!

 

1CB/1BW: Wonderful 3D Abstract Paper Movement Sculptures inspired by Jackson Pollock

Year 1 students explored Jackson Pollock’s abstract art, learning three facts about the artist. They cut and folded paper strips, pasting them to create dynamic 3D lines. Their finished artworks focus on line and movement, filling foam boards with creative paper strip arrangements. Fantastic work, Year 1!

 

2EK/2MC: Fabulous Real or Imaginary Creatures inspired by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers

Year 2 students crafted real or imaginary ‘cheeky animals’ inspired by the Tjanpi Desert Weavers from remote central Australian communities. Using yarn, raffia, buttons for facial features, feathers, and scrap fabric, they created these wonderful creatures. Awesome work, Year 2!

 

3MT/3HS: Awesome Mehndi Art Glove Designs

Year 3 students practiced Mehndi art, creating their own Mehndi art gloves. They incorporated repeating patterns, paisleys, sun shapes, animals, and plants into their designs using permanent markers. Applying these designs to their gloves from their planning sheets, they produced excellent artwork. Great job, Year 3!

 

4MP/4JR/4MM: Amazing Woven Baskets inspired by Tammy Kanat

Year 4 students, inspired by Tammy Kanat, created their own woven baskets. Using the in-and-out weaving technique, they chose warm, cool, or complementary colors for their designs. Their focus on technique, visual perception, and craftsmanship resulted in brilliant woven baskets. Well done, Year 4!

 

5ZE: Super Huichol Yarn Paintings inspired by Nature and Mexican Folk Art

Year 5 students learned to create Huichol Yarn Paintings inspired by nature and Mexican Folk Art. They designed paintings incorporating line, color, and shape, using yarn to tell a story. Starting with a planning sheet, they executed their intricate yarn paintings beautifully. Excellent work, Year 5!

 

6JE/6MK/6PL: Brilliant Textile Weavings inspired by Aboriginal Artists

Year 6 students created textile weavings that tell their personal stories of the past, present, and future, inspired by Aboriginal artists. They learned to thread needles, tie knots, and perform various embroidery stitches. Their storytelling through textile art is truly brilliant. Outstanding work, Year 6!
