Principal's Views

Dear Parents, Carers and Students,

We extend our thanks to each and every family who took the time to attend our student-led conferences last night. Your presence showed your support for your child's academic progress and their learning goals. Students confidently articulated their progress, goals, and achievements Thank you for your continued support and for strengthening the partnership between home and school. Reports will be available to families on Thursday 27th June.

We also look forward to seeing you at our Celebration of Learning in Week 11 on Tuesday the 25th June.

Yr 4 Camp

Later in this newsletter you can read all about our Grade 4 Camp this week. Sixty Year 4s attended the jam-packed city camp. I had a great time visiting for dinner and a movie. I loved hearing students reflect about how their peers had demonstrated our school values. Thank you to all the staff who attended and supported our students to build resilience, see the city sights, make new friendships and so much more. After all that walking … I’m sure they slept well when they got home!

Refugee Week

Next week, during Refugee Week, schools across Australia celebrate and embrace diversity in their classrooms. Students and teachers will come together to honour the resilience, courage, and contributions of refugees to our society.

EVPS is part of the Refugee Education Support Program. The Refugee Education Support Program (RESP) is a department-funded initiative delivered by the Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) and Foundation House.

Our school is supported to identify and implement strategies that improve achievement, engagement and wellbeing outcomes for students from refugee backgrounds.

This year’s Refugee Week theme is “Finding Freedom” – with a focus on family and the journey of resilience, strength, and unity that defines the refugee experience. This Refugee Week, The Refugee Council of Australia aims to shed light on the transformative power of familial bonds as well as chosen bonds in the face of adversity and emphasises the crucial role families play in providing support and a sense of belonging to those forced to flee their homelands. This is a theme that people of all backgrounds can strongly identify with and closely aligns to the EVPS school values, especially respect and caring.
