Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden with 3/4S

Today we ended the SAKG for the term with a beautiful, hot pumpkin and potato soup.  We cut up our beautiful butternut pumpkin that had been growing from the compost bin and it was so tasty.  Full of wonderful nutrients. We also used some potatoes and beans from the garden.  The students also made the famous Cheesy Vegemite scrolls, bean salad and pea dip.  What a yummy lunch combination!

In the garden we planted some radishes, parsnip, cauliflower and broccoli.  The students worked extremely hard to prepare their soil by weeding and aerating it all before planting.  Next week the Eggplant and Tomatoes group will have a gardening session to make up for the missed time last week.  It was way too cold, wet and windy last Tuesday for us to get out in the garden.

Today we had three wonderful helpers in the kitchen who the children loved working with. These people were Jim (Alexi’s Dad), Jo and Zaire (Mali’s Mum and brother).  Thanks for giving  us your time this week to help the students of 3/4S.

Arigatou!
