Gunbower Estate progress update

Our site Manager, Dean Walton, has continued to be busy at Gunbower Estate during Term 2, actively preparing the property for student access. We are very pleased that student access is imminent and look forward to introducing the first students to our Gunbower campus in the upcoming weeks.

Key important work that has been completed since the last update includes a tree assessment and the resulting remedial work. Pleasingly, only a limited number of trees were required to be removed, with ‘maintenance’ work undertaken on others.  A bus turning circle has been established, with the generous support of Mawson’s Concrete and Quarries, who provided a discount on the rock required for this. The site has been surveyed, a heritage consultant engaged to assess the buildings onsite, a water ring main installed, mains power relocated and lawn established in an idyllic section of the property that has stunning Gunbower Creek views. Dean has also been busy setting up water for livestock, clearing fence lines and repairing fences.

The Challenge Ropes Course design is also progressing and subject to council approval, we hope that this project will be completed in time for use by students in early 2025.

Solar and Battery Grant

We are very fortunate to have been successful with a grant application to the Block Grant Authority to install further solar and excitingly, a large battery storage system. This work will be undertaken in the next term break.

Community Bank – Tongala and Mathoura

A special thanks to the Community Bank – Tongala and Mathoura for donating $2,395 towards the purchase of mobile soccer goals. These arrived in the school holidays and are already in use. The Community Bank also sponsor our Year 6 student awards each year – we greatly value their support of the community and our students.

Online Uniform Shop

We are very pleased to have streamlined our online ordering system for school uniforms.  Parents and carers are now able to access our online uniform store via the SEQTA engage App, or via the website here.
