From the Principal
Welcome to the start of Term 3
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I very much hope that the mid-year school holiday period has been a safe, relaxing and enjoyable one for our students and families.
Our staff team have had a terrific start to Term 3 which commenced on Monday 15 July with a staff professional learning day held at Gunbower Estate.
The purpose of the day was to enable all staff to visit Gunbower Estate in small groups comprising Primary, Secondary & Professional staff. Staff were introduced to the property, toured the historic Homestead and grounds and learnt more about the significant history of the site.
The day also provided time for staff to think and wonder as they collectively explored and identified possibilities for future student experience from Kindergarten to Year 12 at Gunbower Estate.
Another key focus of the day was the provision of personal preparation time for all staff to support readiness for student commencement on Tuesday 16 July.
I have to say that Tuesday was the highlight of my week this week as students returned to school for their first day of Term 3. The buzz around the school was palpable on Tuesday morning and, from a personal perspective, I thoroughly enjoyed greeting students and families throughout the week to hear about their holiday experiences.
As we commence Term 3, I take this opportunity to warmly welcome new students and families who have joined our school community at the start of this term. I also take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge those members of our staff team who worked through the school holiday period for all that they have done to continue day to day operations of our school during the past three weeks.
There has been much happening across the life of our school during the break with HSC students continuing study sessions, students and staff overseas undertaking a very successful Cambodia Trip in consultation with Habitat for Humanity, and extensive refurbishment of learning spaces in both our Middle and Senior School led by our property management team.
I express my sincere thanks to all staff involved in supporting and enabling the above student experiences and improvements to our school buildings.
Best wishes for Term 3.
Mr Scott Downward
