Spotlight on Students

Debating

In Round 2 of the Premier’s Debating Challenge, Dundas Gold (Year 6) and Dundas Grey (Year 5) went up against Carlingford West Public School.

Dundas Gold (Jessy, Jacqueline, Rebecca and Justin) were the affirmative team for the topic ‘that parents should only let kids have screentime if they’re watching with someone else’. They did an excellent job at persuading the audience why this should happen! In fact, the adjudicator said that it was one of the strongest Primary School debates she had seen so far this year! Well done to the Gold team for winning their first two debates of 2024!

Dundas Grey (Jessica, Osman, Stella and Zac) were the negative team for the topic ‘that we should allow students to use their devices during the breaks at school’. It was an interesting topic and they came up with some strong arguments, however the winning team was Carlingford West with outstanding rebuttals. It was a fantastic effort from all of our Year 5’s in their first year of debating!

Congratulations to both Dundas debating teams. What a fantastic start to the year!
