Sport

It’s been a busy start back to Term 3 in PE, here are some of the highlights;

Victorian State Cross Country

Last week, four of our Level 3-6 students competed in the Victorian State Cross Country at the challenging and muddy Yarra Glen Racecourse. These dedicated athletes had previously finished in the top 12 of their age group at the Eastern Regional Cross Country in June, an impressive feat in itself. We are incredibly proud of their achievement in reaching this high level of competition and are extremely impressed with the effort they demonstrated on the day. We also extend our thanks to our fantastic families for their support and assistance with training throughout all levels of Cross Country.

Congratulations to the following students who represented our largest State Cross Country team ever. These remarkable students placed in the top 100 out of over 75,000 competitors in their age group from more than 2,500 different schools:

  • Under 11 Boys, 3km: Riyon R (27th) 12:43 min
  • Under 11 Girls, 3km: Collette C (12th) 13:28 min
  • Under 12 Boys, 3km: Jared (20th) 12:24 min, Will (44th) 13:05 min

State Netball Championships

On Wednesday, ten of our Level 5/6 students competed in the State Netball Championships at Parkville. The students performed extremely well and demonstrated fantastic effort, teamwork, and school spirit throughout all of their games. Thank you to the coaches and parents for all their support on the day and throughout the training sessions. This competition is a very popular tradition at Rangeview, and it is great to see it continue! Overall, the team finished in 2nd position—a fantastic feat against some very strong teams.

Team Victoria Try-Outs

Congratulations and good luck to both Leo and Jared, who competed in the Team Vic tryouts on Sunday for the Boys' Victorian Softball team. Both boys performed extremely well and have progressed to the next session. Good luck as well to Avish, who is in the final stages of the selection for the Victorian Cricket team!

All Schools Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to Will and Jared, who, in addition to the State Cross Country, also represented Rangeview at the All Schools Cross Country Championships on the weekend. Both boys competed in the under-14 section as 12-year old’s and should be extremely proud of how they raced against over 180 runners!

Rangeview Olympic celebrations

Excitement is building at Rangeview as the 2024 Paris Olympics draw near! In PE, we have been learning all about the different 40 sports that are competed in at the Olympics and have been sharing on our Olympics display in the hall all the sports the students at Rangeview compete in. The students are very excited about our Green and Gold Day today as well as our Olympic celebration ceremony on the 5th of August!

Level 3-6 Futsal Club

Our brand-new Futsal club is in full swing, with over 35 students participating each week. The club meets on Wednesdays during lunch and is designed for students who are passionate about soccer to learn new skills and play some competitive matches against other like-minded students. We have been blown away by the talent on display!

Term 3 Curriculum

During Term 3, students from Level 3-6 will focus on game sense and teamwork whilst exploring sports such as Futsal (Indoor Soccer), Hockey, and Badminton.

Foundation to Level 2 students will continue developing their Fundamental Motor Skills whilst learning net sports such as Tennis and Badminton.
