STEPHANIE ALEXANDER KITCHEN GARDEN AFTERNOON TEA

On Friday 24 May, we welcomed our Year 3-6 families to the hall for a beautiful afternoon tea. We had an amazing turnout of mums, dads, siblings, grandparents and aunts and uncles who were treated to a sampling of pumpkin cake, mint choc chip cookies, spinach and ricotta fingers and zucchini fritters. All the food had been prepared by the children during their allotted SAKG cooking class, with most of the ingredients being sourced directly from the school’s vegetable patch.

The children loved being able to talk about the food they had cooked and what ingredients went into each dish with their families. These positive food experiences are the very purpose of the SAKG program.

This event would not have been possible if not for the tireless work of Stella (Miles 3/4G) who pulled together the recipes, sourced the ingredients and cooked with the children. It was a mammoth effort, and we would not have been able to run this without her!! Thank you so much Stella!

Another very special mention to Nicole (Henry 3/4G) who so beautifully decorated all the tables and brought a stunning visual to the afternoon!

Thank you to all our parent helpers who helped set up during the day and who helped us pack away (and wash the mountain of tablecloths) afterwards.

These events would not operate as smoothly as they do without the support from our amazing community.

We very much look forward to doing something special with the Prep-2s next term – stayed tuned for more info.

TRIVIA NIGHT RECAP

Thank you to all who joined us for Trivia night last Friday! We hope you had a great time!

There was so much spandex, synthetic hair, lace, fishnets, and tulle! There were guest appearances from a few Madonna’s, Tina Turner, some 80’s tennis pro’s, even Salt-n-Pepa were in attendance!

Overall, it was so great to see the 80’s theme so widely embraced.

The winners of the night were team “The McFlys” who walked away with a ‘massive’ trophy.

Bottle toss, spot games and the meat tray raffle were as popular as ever! Not sure how Mr Martin is so good at the bottle toss! Thank you to all who supported by being so enthusiastically involved.

Thank you SO much to the Floros family who again, so kindly donated the meat tray for the raffle. Thank you also to the Cirocco family for donating goods for the mystery prizes.

A form will be sent home this week. Please return the form along with payment (either CDF or cash) by Thursday 20 June.

The disco will run in two sessions:

Years 3 – 6           6:30pm – 8:00pm

We ask that students attending please bring their own labelled drink bottle with them on the night.

Glow accessories will be sold from next Wednesday morning before the bell (to give the year 4 students going away on camp an opportunity to buy). Glow items will also be sold on the night. We have lots of fun, glowing, flashing neon accessories on offer ranging from $2 - $10 per item.

If you are able to assist on the night, please leave your name at the office. All parent helpers are required to have a current Working With Children Check.

A special thanks to the Farah family (Kingston – 1/2G) who are coordinating the night for us this year!
