Principal's Report

Dear Rockhampton North Special School Community,

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we approach the end of the term, our school is buzzing with activity. Our hardworking teachers are busy finalising reports and assessments to provide you with a clear picture of your child's progress. They are also starting to plan exciting lessons and activities for next term. I'm excited to share some great news about our students' reading progress. Over the past few weeks, we've seen an 18% improvement in their ability to decode words, which is a big step forward in their reading skills. This achievement reflects the hard work of our students and the dedication of our teachers.

I am incredibly proud of our students who participated in the Cross Country event yesterday. They demonstrated excellent behaviour and truly upheld our school values. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and support for one another. Well done to all!

With the colder weather settling in, we kindly remind you to keep your child at home if they are unwell. This helps us keep everyone healthy and safe. Please Remember to pick up your children on time before 3.00pm. Late pickups can cause stress for the students and make it difficult for us to ensure proper supervision. Your punctuality is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I also want to let you know that I will be on Long Service Leave during the last week of this term and the first week of Term 3. I'll be visiting my family in South Africa. During this time, Sam Wearne will be leading the school. Please support her and our leadership team to ensure everything runs smoothly.

We’re looking forward to our Sports Carnival on Tuesday, the 18th of June. The students have been practising for this event since the start of the year, and it promises to be a fun day. We encourage all families to come and cheer on their children. Please note that all staff will be on the Oval, so the office will be closed for the day. Let’s show our team spirit—Go Yellow team!

Thank you for your ongoing support. Together, we create a positive and nurturing environment for our students 😊

Warm regards,

Dehlia
