This week in the Physical Education classroom, students have begun their athletics unit, learning about the different field events that they experience at our house athletics carnival. Students will be able to practice long jump, triple jump, hurdles, shot put, discus and high jump.
Middle and Senior Athletics Carnival
This term we have our middle school athletics carnival running on Thursday 1st August (week 3) and senior school carnival running on Tuesday 6th August (week 4). Thank you to the parents who have reached out and offered to help at our house athletics carnivals. We still require some assistance and would appreciate the support immensely! If you are able to help us out on the day, please email Jayne.beith@education.vic.gov.au
Thank you in advance!

Library - Book Week Dress Up Day and Author Visits
Welcome back for Term 3. This term we have lots of fun events planned to celebrate Book Week which will be held from Monday 19th August to Friday 23 August. There will be author visits, a dress up day and other exciting activities. Students can come to school dressed up as their favourite book character and there will be a parade so they can share their costume with their classmates. We will confirm the date for the Book Week Dress Up Day shortly but remember costumes can be as elaborate or simple as you like. If you are stuck for ideas, students can speak to myself or Mrs Offer in the library as we have lots of easy ideas we can suggest.
Book Week celebrates Australian authors and illustrators by presenting annual awards for outstanding contributions to children’s literature. We will study a number of these books during library lessons in Term 3. The Shortlisted Books can be viewed at www.cbca.org.au.
Just a few reminders as we settle into the new term. Students are expected to have a library bag before they can borrow from the library and all students are encouraged to borrow from our wide selection of books. Our Library Technician, Mrs Offer, is back from leave and will be following up overdue books with letters and emails. If you receive a notice and are sure that the book has been returned, please ask your child to see us in the library. A book is not considered returned until it is in the library. Also encourage your child to do a thorough check at home and in the classroom if they receive an overdue notice.

With the wet weather and muddy conditions, we are handing out a LOT of spare uniform. If your child comes home with borrowed items, could you please wash and return them as soon as possible. It would also be of great assistance if families could pack spare clothes in their child's school bag for emergencies.
