PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
By Dave Young
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am honoured and thrilled to accept the appointment as the substantive principal of Lucas Primary School. I would like to express my gratitude to the selection panel, the school council and the entire Lucas PS community for entrusting me with this significant responsibility.
Lucas Primary School has a wonderful reputation, and I am committed to continuing this tradition. Our school is known for its vibrant community, dedicated staff and enthusiastic students, and I am excited to continue my work alongside each of you to foster an environment where every child can thrive.
Education is a collaborative effort and I firmly believe that by working together – students, teachers, parents and the wider community – we can achieve great outcomes. My vision for Lucas PS is one where every student feels valued, inspired and empowered to reach their full potential. I am dedicated to maintaining a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where innovative teaching and a strong curriculum go hand in hand.
To the teachers and staff, your dedication and hard work are the backbone of our students' success, and I am committed to ensuring you have the resources and encouragement you need to excel in your roles.
To the parents and guardians, I understand the trust you place in us to educate and nurture your children. I am committed to fostering open communication and strong partnerships to ensure we are meeting the needs and aspirations of every student.
To the students, you are the heart of Lucas Primary School. I am excited to learn alongside you, celebrate your achievements and support you through the challenges. Your enthusiasm and curiosity inspire us all to be the best educators we can be.
Together, we will build on the strong foundation of Lucas Primary School and create a future filled with opportunities, growth and success for all our students. Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity. I am looking forward to a bright and successful journey ahead.
Fundraiser - Movie- Inside Out 2
Our fundraiser for Term 2 is a special screening especially for Lucas Primary School students and their families of Inside Out 2.
This movie enters the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions!
Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.
Tickets are available on QuickCliq - Events at a cost of $18
Please ensure you put your child/s name in the notes when buying your tickets as all tickets will be handed out to students prior to the event.
All proceeds will go towards our outdoor learning centre and kitchen garden.
Welcome Nimendra
We are pleased to announce that Nimendra Madampe will join Lucas Primary School as our new ICT technician! Nimendra brings a wealth of experience and expertise in managing and maintaining school ICT systems and infrastructure and we are excited to have him on board.
Nimendra will officially begin at Lucas PS in the week beginning Monday June 24.

Parents also have the opportunity to book a 10-minute session with our specialist teachers to hear about the learning in Japanese, Physical Education, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. At the 3 Way Conversations you will receive your child’s portfolio of work, a hard copy of the Semester 1 Report and your child’s Individual Education Plan (If applicable).
On the Friday before the 3 Way Conversations, you will receive your child’s portfolio of work, a digital copy of the Semester 1 Report and a digital copy of your child’s Individual Education Plan (If applicable).

However…
We respectfully request that these pictures and videos are only used for personal use and are not published in any form, including on social media, without the prior consent of persons whose children also appear in the images.

Safety Around the School
Safety around the school at drop off and pick up times is paramount. We have had a number of very close calls over the past few weeks that could have been avoided through the use of safe pedestrian and driver behaviour.
We urge everyone to consider the potential impacts of an accident that could have easily been avoided by simply taking an extra couple of minutes to choose a safer option.
Thanks in advance for your support with this matter.
Planning Week
Next week, is our planning week where teaching teams spend some time reflecting on Term 2 and doing some important planning for Term 3. This means that a modified timetable will be in place for all students. Classroom staff will be supporting students to understand the change in routine and ensure they are set up for success.
Planning days are:
If you would like to discuss specific needs for your child during Planning Week, please feel free to contact your child’s classroom teacher.
Storage
As we continue to grow as a school, our ability to store resources is becoming increasingly challenging. We have sourced a number of shipping containers to be placed on site to assist with our storage challenges until a more permanent shed can be erected. These containers will be placed at the rear of the gym.
Lost Property
We have many items currently in Lost Property. We understand the living pressures at the moment and strongly encourage all families to clearly label all items of clothing worn to school.
Please drop by the Admin Building to see if any of your child’s belongings are currently in Lost property.
