Hello from our students and teachers

Respect, Responsibility and Kindness

Hello from Grade 5/6 and Jacinta Condon.

Room 3 Term 2

This term students have been busy enjoying a variety of extra-curricular activities, from Cross Country, Jet's Gymnastics, Special Person's Day and 'Steamdance', we have all been very busy.

Education week was a wonderful success with many parents coming along to support their child. We played a series of mathematics games in our classroom which started with some serious games of battleships. The atmosphere was electric as parents and students battled it out to see who would be victorious. Here are some photos captured from the day.

Wonderland

This week we were lucky enough to have members of the Australian Ballet come to our school to host dance workshops. We learnt all about different ballet terms, how to move our body in time and how to express ourselves through dance. We were lucky enough to be involved in daily 1-hour sessions and then performed what we had learnt on the Thursday. Here we are dancing up a storm.

Mathematics

Inmathematics we have a daily problem-solving task. Students are given time to work through a problem and must demonstrate the attempts the have made to work towards a solution. For the last few weeks, we have focused on fractions. The problem students were asked to solve was - How many different flag designs can you make that are ¾ red and ¼ yellow? Here are some of our attempts to solve the problem.

Writing

In writing students were asked to work with a partner to create a slide that would promote an area in our school. They had 50 mins to produce their work and the finished slide will be put together in a collaborative Power Point to show at assembly on Friday. We all agreed that we love our school and that Violet Street is the place to be!
