HSC Study Sessions, Refugee Week and Winter Reading Galore

From celebrating diversity to exploring captivating reads, here’s what was happening in our library in June.

HSC Study Sessions at Blacktown Library

Our library is dedicated to supporting academic success. HSC study sessions are currently underway at Blacktown Library, offering a conducive environment for HSC students to prepare for their exams and attend HSC lecture series. We strongly encourage all HSC students to take advantage of these valuable resources and maximise their study efforts in a focused setting.

Refugee Week Highlights

Our library was a hub of creativity and empathy during Refugee Week, weaving together stories of resilience and hope. The heart of our celebration was a group weaving project, where students and staff came together to create a vibrant symbol of solidarity. Displays throughout the library featured books and narratives that highlight on the refugee experience—from personal memoirs to fiction that transported us to different worlds. These displays encouraged us to expand our perspectives and appreciate the richness of diversity within our community.

Bridgerton Series Excitement

As excitement mounted for the new episodes on Netflix, our library also featured books from the beloved Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. Promotions and special displays dedicated to the series highlighted not only the books but also the joy of indulging in a good read during winter and the upcoming holidays. Whether you were seeking a distraction or a companion for chilly evenings, the Bridgerton series allowed us all to escape into its glamorous world of romance and intrigue.

Winter Reading Recommendations

As winter approaches and the holidays are near, our library continues to be a resource of reading opportunities. The library staff is ready to assist with personalised book suggestions to keep us engaged throughout the holiday break. It’s the perfect time to discover new authors, revisit old favourites, and escape into worlds both familiar and new.
