Education Perfect World Language Championships Wah-Luar biasa!! Wow- Extraordinary! Each year Education Perfect, an online learning platform, holds the World Language Championships. This competition involves over 2000 schools worldwide (mostly Australia and New Zealand) and runs for 7 days. Students must answer as many questions as possible in their chosen language. Our achievement in this year’s competition is extraordinary given our small number of participants. I am proud to announce that St Mary's College came 1st in our category (1-50 students, Indonesian Language) and 2nd for ALL languages (1-50 students) in the Education Perfect World Language Championships. An amazing effort by our Yr 9 &10 Indonesian class.
Special mention goes to Cheyenne Newsome and Melrose Pambai who each received an Elite Certificate by gaining over 10,000 points each. That means answering over 20,000questions in 7 days! Cheyenne came 5th and Melrose 6th out of over 10,000 participants! Hebat ya! Our other certificate winners were Gold Certificates to Melhoney Pambai and Flynn Brennan, Silver to Evelyn Krammer, Bronze to Elsie Bree, Sasha Leary and a Credit to Rosa Chin. Selamat atas semuanya and Terima kasih! (Congratulations to all and Thank you)
Primary School TCL Indonesian Through our Primary TCL (Teachers as Co-Learner) program our students and teachers are making great progress in Indonesian. It is wonderful to hear students and teachers using the language in the classroom and even, on occasion, in the yard. In the last few weeks we have been learning the numbers and classroom items. You may have heard them singing the Indonesian numbers as a rock song! Students can also ask to borrow school items such as a pen in Indonesian: Boleh saya pinjam pena? We love the loan words such as ‘pensil’ and ‘pena’. Maybe you can guess what ‘komputer’ and ‘buku’ mean?
