On Monday 6 May the annual Victorian School Associations Competition Swimming Carnival was held at MSAC.

Four of our students, Andrew Dinh, Lucas Dinh, Rainn Lee and Ravin Lee, competed as part of the Southern Independent Schools (SIS) team.  All students competed well, with Andrew victorious in all of his races.  Well done to all our competitors.

House Cross Country Carnival

Last Tuesday 7 May we held our Annual House Cross Country Carnival. It was a jammed packed day with all students participating in a 3km run around the school. Students who participated in the race were able to gain points for their House Colours, for the Cross-Country Cup. The top 10 runners of each year level have been invited to participate in the SIS Cross Country Carnival next Tuesday 21May. The SIS Cross Country Carnival is an opportunity to represent Nazareth at the Inter school level. At this carnival students will be racing against other schools in a 3km run.

Year 8 Visual Communication Design

Ms O’Brien’s Year 8 Visual Communication Design class have been busily involved in learning about the different drawing methods that designers may use to help communicate their ideas to their clients and audience. These include Observational Drawing and One-Point Perspective Drawing. In Observational Drawing, students were tasked to use different media, such as grey lead pencil and watercolour paint, to depict the objects that were presented in front of them. With their One-Point Perspective Drawings, students learnt how to write their names in 3D, converging each of the letters back to a single vanishing point off in the distance of the page to suggest depth. They also rendered their names using markers and fineliners. Please take a look at the great work below.

Year 11 Economics

This week students in Year 11 Economics embarked on a culinary tour of Queen Victoria Market. Their mission was to examine the pricing and marketing strategy of the individual merchants. Throughout the day they collected information on pricing and product range from the various sections in the market including, deli, general merchandise and fruit and veg. Upon returning to school,  students applied their data to economic theory regarding Law of Supply and Demand. Many thanks to Ms Singh, Ms Nogueira and Mr Chan for accompanying the students.
