Term 2 - Week 5

Welcome to Week 5,

Catholic Schools Week

Catholic Schools Week provides us with the opportunity to give thanks for the gift of Catholic Education in our lives. This week holds special significance as we embrace the 2024 theme for Armidale Catholic Schools, Pray with Hope, in conjunction with Pope Francis' designation of 2024 as The Year of Prayer.

In embracing this theme, we acknowledge the power of hope as a driving force in shaping our lives and the lives of all members of the St Nicholas School community .

To commence Catholic Schools Week, on Monday St Nicholas School staff joined with St Joseph’s West Tamworth and St Edward’s South Tamworth to celebrate success and collaborate on our improvement initiatives. This style of professional learning supports our St Nicholas School culture of ‘isolation being the enemy of improvement’.

On Tuesday, Mrs Dunst and I were privileged to accompany our student leaders to a Deanery Mass at St Mary Help of Christians, South Tamworth, to once again give thanks for the gift of Catholic Education.

During this service our Systems Director, Ms Regina Menz, spoke of the work our schools are doing each and everyday in supporting our students in becoming ‘literate and numerate with a hope filled future’.

Last night our School Leadership team hosted an evening of learning for our parents. To support the connection between school and home, our parents were introduced to the language and pedagogy that our children are exposed to every day.

While this language is so important, the most important thing our parents can do is model to their children the value of reading.
