Primary School

Over the last two days, MSP, the school photographers, have been onsite to capture the captivating smiles of our students and staff, which will, no doubt, provide lasting keepsake for many years to come. It was also a chance for the entire school, from Kindergarten to Year 12, to gather on the Upper Primary lawn for a group photograph, with everyone looking their best. I would like to thank our families for their support in ensuring that students were dressed in the correct winter uniform.

Safety Message

We have received reports from concerned community members that some of our students are crossing main roads in an unsafe manner. The importance of looking in both directions before crossing, is captured in the poem which I have shared below. It would be great if parents and guardians could have a conversation with their child(ren) about the importance of crossing highways and roads safely.

Crossing the Street

Stop, look, and listen

before you cross the street.

Use your eyes and use your ears

before you use your feet.

Look to your right

then look to your left

and to your right once more.

You must be really careful.

That's what rules are for!

Student Achievements

After being selected for the Victorian State Gymnastics Team, Addison Coburn travelled to the Gold Coast last week to compete at the Australian National Gymnastics Championships. This was Addi’s first time representing Victoria and she was the youngest competitor to qualify for the event which was a huge honour. Addi achieved a personal best and scored the second highest place on her preliminary passes for the entire Level 5. Addi made the finals and ended up placing 4th overall in Australia. Addi was lucky enough to have past Moama Anglican Grammar teacher Kim McFadden as her State Coach for the event. Congratulations Addi on this wonderful achievement.

Congratulations to Sophie Millar on being selected to represent the NSW U/12 girls AFL team which will play at the National Championships in August. Having recently played in the Southern Inland Representative Team in Albury at the NSW U/12 girls AFL championship, Sophie proved a strong contender after her excellent performances in the five games. Well done Sophie on this great achievement and we cannot wait to cheer you on later this year.

Art Room Spotlight

Our Year 1 students have been learning about the elements of art focusing on SPACE over the past few weeks. They learned that artworks are composed of a Foreground (Here), Midground (Near), and Background (Far), which adds depth and dimension to their creations. Inspired by the captivating outback landscapes of Australian Aboriginal artist Kukula McDonald, our young artists selected secondary colours in acrylic paint to bring their own landscapes to life. Through this project, they not only honed their painting skills but also gained a deeper appreciation for the ways in which space can transform their artworks. Well done, Year 1, for your beautiful and thoughtful creations!

Soccer Tournament

By Luella Williams and Ruby Law

On the 21st of May 2024, the Year Fives and Sixes who tried out for the soccer team went to the Interschool Soccer Tournament. The A girls team had an absolutely amazing day filled with fun 16-minute games. There were many schools to compete against, such as St. Augustine, 208, Echuca East (who won the tournament for the girls), St Mary’s, Kyabram College and Tongala Primary School. We ended up second on the ladder, which meant we got into the grand final but unfortunately lost with a score of 2-0. We had an amazing team that showed great sportsmanship, and even though we didn’t win, we had so much fun. Thanks to Mr Turner, Ms Pinson, Mr Watson and the registered volunteers for assisting on the day.

By Ted Palmer and Oliver Knight

The soccer tournament was a great success. There were eight teams in each division and they all presented a great challenge. However, Moama Anglican Grammars four teams all played incredibly well, with the all boys teams and one of the mixed teams placing first, and the all girls teams and the other mixed team placing second. Overall, it was such a great day.

Primary Assembly

On Friday 24 May, the Primary School community connected at the Primary Assembly. I would like to congratulate Max Johns and Payton Polido, for confidently conducting the Assembly. We enjoyed beautiful performances from Rosie Grant who played 'Prelude in A Minor' and Emily Parsons who performed 'The Drummer Boy' on piano. We also enjoyed a performance from Ted Knight called 'When the Saints' on guitar.

During the Year 1 performance, students presented the adjectives song. Through the story ‘Wanted’, which follows Ralfy Rabbit, who steals books, students have been learning that adjectives are describing words. The Year 1 students wore their own bunny masks and presented their Wanted posters to the audience.

Mrs Pedrana shared some of the exciting events in the school calendar for this term and we enjoyed two award winning pieces ‘The Wellerman’ and ‘I Hear the Windmill’ from the Primary Choir. We look forward to our next Assembly on Friday 26 July, when the Year 5 students will perform for us.

Congratulations to the students below who received a Core Value Award for consistently displaying one or more of the School’s Core Values and Motto. Keep up the great work!

Gymnastics Co-Curricular

All Primary students have an opportunity to be involved in this year’s Tumbling Program as part of the Gymnastics Co-Curricular. Students who participate in the program are allowed to wear their sports uniform on their allocated day.

  1. Monday lunchtime: students in Years 3-6 are invited to work on their tumbling skills. This session is being facilitated by Palmer’s Gym.
  2. Friday lunchtime: students in Kindergarten-Year 2 can work on their tumbling skills. This session is facilitated by registered volunteers, Mel Coburn and Linda Johnston and Year 10 student Olive Morton.

Message from the Office

As we are nearing the end of Term, we have many uniform items in lost property without student names on them, making it difficult to reunite these with their rightful owners. If your child is missing anything, please encourage them to visit our lost property in the Primary School Office.

Enhancing School-Parent Communication: The Power of SEQTA Engage App

In an era where technology seamlessly integrates into various aspects of our lives, it comes as no surprise that educational institutions are leveraging digital platforms to enhance communication between schools and families. The SEQTA Engage app is used by Moama Anglican Grammar to serve as a multifaceted tool for both schools and families, offering a streamlined approach for submitting school absences, accessing student reports, and centralised access to a number of other School resources for families. As a school committed to fostering strong partnerships between educators and families, we wholeheartedly encourage all parents to download the SEQTA Engage app onto their smartphones. By embracing this innovative platform, you not only gain convenient access to essential school-related information but also play an integral role in supporting your child's academic success. Please contact IT support via email at help@moamagrammar.nsw.edu.au if you require assistance in setting up the SEQTA engage app on your smartphone.
