It was a great weekend on the courts last week; the sun was shining, and the breeze was gentle.
Game report
We had 15 wins overall and a nail-biting draw by the Year 8 Jade team, 42 goals each against fierce rivals Floreat Force.
Friday Night Lights
The Year 4 Green and Red teams had a derby. It was a very close game with only 2 points the difference. There is some incredible talent coming through the ranks.
Saturday Morning Fever
Our Year 5 teams started at 8 am. Clearly, they all had their weeties for breakfast, as both teams won.
Year 7 Onyx lost by just 3 points to Classics. Don’t worry, we’ll get them next time.
The second derby of the weekend was Year 10 Pearl v Years 11/12 Gold. The Pearl team started the game with a lot of nervous energy and got the jump on the Gold team; Pearl continued to dominate despite the awesome on-court enthusiasm of the Gold team.
Our Alumni teams had wins across the board.
Lastly, as the sun was setting, City Beach proved too strong for our Diamond team. It was a great game to watch, and the girls certainly gave their all.
Umpires
- Umpires are a vital part of our game, and without them, we couldn’t play.
- Learning to be an umpire is a great way to better understand our game and appreciate the difficult job of the umpires who show up every week.
- A huge thank you to all of our umpires for their efforts. It’s not an easy role, but we couldn’t play without you.
- Thank you also to our Umpire Mentors and Alumni Umpires, who continue to support and inspire our up-and-coming umpires.
John XXIII Netball Club has an umpire training program. The first step to joining our program to be an umpire is to complete a PNA Umpire Workshop.
Perth Netball Association are running an umpire workshop over the July school holidays.

WA DAY long weekend
There are no games on the WA Day long weekend 31 May and 1 June.
