Supporting Dyslexic Students
Educators find themselves on a continuous learning path to ensure every student thrives. Recently, our staff has participated in several professional development sessions exploring dyslexia and its impact on learning. Dyslexia, a learning disability that affects reading, writing, and spelling skills, requires tailored support to empower students. The staff at Maffra Secondary College is equipped with strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles, promote inclusive classrooms, and create safe havens where every student feels valued and understood.
Moreover, our staff are not just teaching; they champion a culture of empathy and encouragement. They're dismantling stigmas surrounding learning differences by fostering an environment where students feel safe to express their struggles and seek assistance. Through patience, understanding, and personalised guidance, we strive to nurture potential and instil unwavering confidence in our dyslexic students, paving the way for them to flourish academically and beyond. If you suspect that your student may be facing learning difficulties, we strongly encourage you to reach out to the Disability Inclusion Team or your student’s year-level coordinator. Early intervention is key in supporting dyslexic students, as it can significantly improve their academic outcomes and reduce the impact of the learning disability.
