MR MAC CUP

Last Friday, we were delighted to have Mrs Bernadette McEvoy join us for our school assembly. Bernadette presented COX as the Term 1 winner of the MR MAC CUP.

Mr Rick McEvoy, fondly referred to as Mr Mac to students and staff, was a long-standing member of the Armidale Diocese as a teacher, REC and Principal of Sacred Heart Boggabri.

Sadly, Mr Mac passed away earlier this year after a battle with Motor Neurone Disease. He was a beautiful, kind person, and to keep his memory alive at Sacred Heart School, we have named a sporting competition between Namoi and Cox Sports houses in his honour. This competition is referred to as the MR MAC CUP.

During the second half of lunch on a Friday, our Year 6 Leaders organise various sporting activities for Namoi and Cox to go head-to-head to win this prestigious trophy.

DIOCESAN CROSS COUNTRY TRIALS

The Diocesan Cross Country Trials will be held in Barraba this Friday, 17th May, and information regarding this event was sent out to families via COMPASS.

Students are to wear only their School Representative sports uniform for the trials. Sacred Heart Rep Shirts will be given out on Thursday. Please ensure that you take another shirt for your child to change into after their event has finished so that you can return your rep shirt to your supervisor before leaving the grounds. Students are not to wear any other representative uniforms. eg: Diocesan, Polding, PSSA, etc. Competitors can wear skins and/or compression undergarments, though they must be covered with school shorts or a school skirt

Students are advised to bring sunscreen and hats to wear at the trials. Please remember to bring adequate water for the day.

I am no longer able to attend on the day, and the children will be supervised by the Small Schools Supervisor, Mrs Amanda Scott. She will have our School Tear Drop Banner so you are able to see where our school will be situated for the day. Many of our students are familiar with Mrs Scott as she supervised them at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival.
