Living with Strength and Kindliness
Next week we will celebrate Reconciliation Week.
This year's Reconciliation Week theme is Now More Than Ever.
Over the coming weeks students and staff will reflect on actions we can take to support the ongoing journey of reconciliation.
Each year, as part of our work towards reconciliation, we commission staff and student FIRE Carriers - Friends Igniting Reconciliation and Education.
These special people work to raise awareness and implement experiences and understanding in line with the four elements of the Fire Carrier Covenant.
These elements include:
Spirituality - represented by the campfire - learn, teach, share, understand.
Cultural Recognition & Awareness - represented by the message stick - tell the story.
Practical Responsibilities & Justice - walking the journey together, putting learnings into practice.
Ecological Stewardship - Caring for Country - looking after planet Earth.
Next week we will commission new students and staff to join with existing staff and students as FIRE Carriers.
Last week we were privileged to join with other students from across Kildare Ministries to engage in an immersion experience in our local Echuca area. One of the highlights of this experience was welcoming students and staff to St Joseph’s College, which reminded us of the importance of connection and listening to each other. Students travelled to Barmah Forest and learnt from experts about the Indigenous connection to the land. This was also an opportunity for students and staff to meet new and old friends from across different schools.
