Student Pathway News

Year 10 Beacon Careers Expo

Our Year 10 students participated in the Beacon Careers Expo on Tuesday at Rich River Golf Club with students from schools across our region.

The Expo showcased the many and varied career opportunities available in our community and was a wonderful opportunity for students to explore future pathways that they may be interested in or unsure about.

Students attended workshops of their choice across different industries and found the experience to be extremely valuable.

We are very grateful to the Echuca Moama businesses who gave up their time to engage with our students about potential career pathways, and we sincerely thank Beacon Foundation for their organisation of this event and for providing such a wonderful opportunity for our students.

A big thank you also to the 2024 Beacon Leaders who hosted the event and did a sensational job!

We asked our participating students what they felt was the most enjoyable part about the Careers Expo, and we share some of their responses below.

"I really enjoyed the mental health and physio workshops as they were the most engaging to listen to and experience."

"I enjoyed speaking to experts in their fields and being provided with more knowledge on how to get into the fields I want."

"Getting to discuss pathway options with experts."

"Speaking to someone who understood what I want to do, and knowing I have someone to contact."

"Learning about apprenticeship work."

"Getting to learn what digital marketing is about and Headspace."

"Learning about becoming a doctor or a physio."

"Meeting new people and workplaces and discovering new jobs and fields of work."

"I liked asking questions to discover more about the industry as well as learning new things about the careers I’m interested in."
