And now a word from

Walk or Wheels

We have now officially completed the Walk Or Wheels competition that was promoted by Kingston Council. It was wonderful to see so many families embrace this initiative and traffic around the school was noticeably less congested on Fridays so far this term.  Standing at the front fence it was lovely to see families walking or riding in together.  The winner of the grade with the most ‘Walk or Wheels will be announced at assembly this Friday and that class will get to display the Golden Boot trophy in their room for the remainder of the term.

At their next meeting the SRC will be discussing how we capitalize on the momentum that we have gained in encouraging walking to school one day a week.  Watch out for this becoming a weekly focus!

Online Safety

Following on from my last newsletter article on online safety, I just wanted to reference a very informative website called ThinkUKnow.

We have had this organisation out to school to present to parents and students in the past and there is lots of clear and helpful information for parents.

I would advise parents to take time to explore the site (click on the logo above for access) and to download this booklet from them called ‘Gaming, Devices and what you need to know”. It is a really informative booklet that contains sections on Gaming (Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch), Smart Devices, Safety Contracts and Helpful Tips. It provides important information on how to manage parental controls on each of the devices.

Premiers' Reading Challenge

Well done to the children who have made an enthusiastic start to the Reading Challenge, reading lots of books and submitting some very entertaining reviews.

If you would like to sign your child/ren up for this year’s Premier’s Reading Challenge, please let me know and I will provide you with login details and instructions.

Asking your child what they did at school that day will often get you a noncommittal response such as “Nothing” or “I don’t remember”. It is a broad question which can be overwhelming. Try one of these questions to narrow it down. Maybe go around the table at dinner time and have the adults answer the same questions!
