Oh, how I love the sky….

And moving through

The marvellous BLUE

This year John Paul II again participated in National Simultaneous Story Time (NSS).

This annual event is organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools and many other places around Australia. We were one of almost  2.4 million participants at 22,000 locations across Australia. This colourful and vibrant event aims to promote the value of reading and literacy by celebrating the work of an Australian writer and publisher. The book selected this year was the delightful Bowerbird Blues by award-winning author and illustrator,

Aura Parker.

In Bowerbird Blues we follow the journey of a bowerbird on a quest to find everything blue. As he continues to collect his treasures, he discovers that there is still something missing from his life. The poetic text and striking illustrations masterfully tell the story of what the most important things in life are.

We greatly enjoyed sharing this story together in our new library, and admiring our colourful display of blue books.
