Term 1, Week 10
We're at the end of Term 1 - can you believe it! Thank you everyone for your support during our first term of Prep! We hope that you get to enjoy some quality time together as a family over the holidays, and that the Easter Bunny finds you all - wherever you may be!
Cross Country
Congratulations to all Preps for participating in their first Cross Country! Thank you to our awesome parent helpers.
Easter Hat Parade
Prep children are invited to wear an Easter Hat to school tomorrow 4th April for our Easter Hat Parade. We hope that you enjoy completing this activity together at home.
Holiday Reading
Please try to maintain your reading at home routine over the holidays. Prep children have learnt a lot of new skills during the Term, and we encourage them to consolidate these skills during the break. Often we find that skills can be forgotten if not practised!
You will also have received a holiday learning pack today. Please use these activities to practise handwriting, number writing, Heart Words and fine motor skills.
Please see our previous newsletter for things you can do at home to support your childs reading.
In Literacy, we have now learnt the sounds for Stage 1 and 2. There are lots of different 3 letter words we can now read, make, spell and write. When we get back to school in Term 2, we will begin to learn our Stage 3 sounds. To compliment our Topic, we are excited to start reading a different Fairy Tale each week in Term 2 as our 'Book of the Week'.
In Mathematics, we will start next term by continuing to learn about patterns with objects and extend this learning to number patterns.
Our Topic next term is Fairy Tales. This topic has been very popular amongst the Preps in previous years and we know it will be no different this year!
Congratulations to 5/6 Byron for winning our second Maths Challenge of the year, with 85% of students participating in the challenge! Our next Maths Challenge will be released in the first newsletter of Term 2 - be sure to keep an eye out!
