Foundation Students Settle into School Life with Enthusiasm

What an exciting start to the year it has been for our Foundation students! As they complete their first term of school, we reflect on the many ways they have embraced their new learning environment with enthusiasm and curiosity. 

Throughout the term, our youngest learners have been busy settling into school routines and procedures. They have navigated new experiences with confidence, from unpacking their bags each morning to participating in whole-class discussions and collaborative activities. Establishing these routines has provided them with a sense of security and belonging, helping them to develop confidence and independence in the classroom.

A key highlight of the term has been the wonderful friendships that have blossomed. Through structured and unstructured play, students have enjoyed getting to know their peers, learning the importance of kindness, sharing, and teamwork. Whether working together in the classroom or playing on the playground, our Foundation students have shown great enthusiasm in building positive relationships with their classmates.

In the classroom, students have eagerly embraced learning opportunities across all areas of the curriculum. In literacy, they have been developing their phonemic awareness, learning letter-sound relationships, and engaging in storytelling and early reading experiences. Numeracy sessions have been filled with hands-on activities, where students have explored counting, number recognition, and basic patterns. Inquiry-based learning has encouraged curiosity, with students exploring topics that spark their interest and developing critical thinking skills through play and discussion.

It has been a joy to watch our Foundation students grow and thrive throughout their first term. We are incredibly proud of their resilience, enthusiasm, and willingness to take on new challenges. As we look ahead to Term Two, we are excited to continue this wonderful journey of learning, discovery, and friendship.
