Solway Community Fair
It has been almost two weeks since our amazing Community Fair day. We were lucky that the rain stayed away, and the heat wasn’t as oppressive as predicted. A day like this would not be possible without a dedicated and passionate parent community willing to pitch in and do whatever was needed to support the school. I was truly humbled by the support of the Solway Primary School Community to ensure a successful day. A huge amount of gratitude must go to our organising team of Lauren Daniell and Michelle Sparsi, as they took on a new role and spent many hours ensuring the success of the day. Mere words are not enough thanks for Michelle and Lauren. They have done an outstanding job, and I am grateful for the effort and commitment. First and foremost, the fair is an opportunity for our community to come together in support of the school, secondly the event raises vital funds for the day to running and maintenance of the school. Early indications that funds raised have exceeded our expectations, and for that, I am grateful for the generosity of our families and the community. We will communicate later in the year on how these funds have benefited your child’s education.
Regional Swimming
Our 9/10 years boys relay team of Finn S, Thomas M, Oliver W, and Guy M competed at the regional championships last week and finished fourth in their heat and sixth overall. We also had Tom J and Oliver W competing in backstroke events, with Oli taking home a bronze medal. A big congratulations to all our swimmers and thank you for representing our school with pride.
5/6 Camp
Last week our Grade 5 and 6 cohort attended Coonawarra Farm Resort as part of our camping program. It was great to spend two days out at camp, seeing the children demonstrating our school values and challenging themselves to step outside their comfort zone when faced with challenging situations on the activities. Thank you to the 5/6 team for their organisation and coordination of the camp. A massive thank you to parents, Bart, Al, Josh, Manoj and Neha for their attendance at camp.
Solway Story Time
Join us for a fun and engaging Story Time at Solway Primary School’s library, specially designed for children aged 3 to 5 years and their families! Our first session is on Thursday 1 May at 9:30am. This is a wonderful opportunity for young children to enjoy stories and interactive activities while becoming familiar with the school environment. It’s also a great chance for parents to connect with our friendly staff and learn how we support a smooth transition to primary school. See the flyer later in the newsletter on how you can register.
Compass Pay
We are excited to announce that Compass Pay is now available at Solway Primary School. Compass enables parents to make payments through the Compass Parent Portal for Parent Payments and costs involved in excursions and events. CompassPay is an efficient means of receiving monies and processing payments online, therefore streamlining the administration processes and associated costs.
Our first payable item CompassPay will be the voluntary Parent Payments. You will have the ability to pay this online. Thank you to our families who have already made a voluntary contribution in full or partial payment. Should families wish to make a payment please follow the prompts in the App.
This will be our last newsletter for Term 1. Thank you all for helping us have a great start to 2025. I hope that you can enjoy a bit of family time over the upcoming holiday period and return to school refreshed and ready to go for an exciting Term 2. A reminder that school starts again at 8:50am on Tuesday 22 April.
A final reminder, Monday 28 April is a curriculum day, and no students are required at school.
Thank you for your continued support and lets all strive to be “our best always”.
