Hello from 4M

4M Term 1 Update: A Sweet and Active Start to the Year!
As Term 1 comes to a close, I am excited to share the wonderful learning experiences the students have had in 4M. It’s been an engaging and action-packed term, full of creativity, learning, and fun!
One of the main highlights for 4M has been our exploration of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. The class has been thoroughly engaged in reading this beloved novel and working on a variety of comprehension activities. Through careful analysis and answering questions, the students have developed a deeper understanding of the characters, plot, and themes in the book. The imaginative world of Willy Wonka and his chocolate factory provided endless opportunities for discussion and exploration.
This week, we took our learning a step further by watching the movie adaptation, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The class loved comparing the book and the film, identifying similarities and differences in how the story was told across two different text types. It was fantastic to see the students critically analysing how the characters and events were portrayed in each version.
In addition to our literary adventures, 4M also had a blast participating in Bike Education sessions this term. The students were excited to learn about bike safety, improve their cycling skills, and gain confidence on the road. It was a great opportunity for them to get active, work together, and have some fun outdoors.
In Writing, we’ve been focusing on crafting engaging narrative texts. The students have been honing their skills in creating well-rounded characters by exploring both their internal and external traits. They’ve also been practicing how to describe settings vividly, using all five senses to bring their stories to life. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity shine as they develop their writing skills.
This term in Maths, we have been diving into exciting new concepts! We explored the world of algebra, where students learned to identify and use patterns, variables, and simple equations to solve problems. They worked hard on understanding how to represent relationships between numbers in a fun and hands-on way.
It’s been a fantastic start to the year, and we can’t wait to see what next term brings!
Thank you for your continued support.
