Grade 1 & 2
Term 2 - Week 2
We welcome everyone back to Term 2.
The term began with the STOMP program, which the children participated in on each of the three days between the first day of school and ANZAC Day. They learnt 3 amazing dances over the three days and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done to all our very energetic and well coordinated little dancers.
Our RE topic for this Term is LOVE. We began this unit by watching this film clip, which we invite you to do the same. We share the link below to Coldplay's music video, All My Love. It is a song sung by Cold Play but it is Dick van Dyke who does the song and video clip, (grandparents, or especially, great grandparents may know who he is.) ‘Love is present in sunshine and rainy times, love is family, holding someone if they cry, dancing, a smile, a hug, living life to the full … a “feeling of caring about the welfare and life of the other person as much as you care about yourself” …’ Dick van Dyke.
Our Inquiry unit is focused on Science. Change is everywhere. Throughout the term we will discover ‘change’. What is an invention? How can inventions change the world? How have changes in technology shaped our daily life? How does push or pull affect how an object moves? Technology- change over time. Our discovery centres reflect this with some new centres such as magnets, cogs, an airport, train set and roads with friction cars. We also have a mini Bunnings, a workshop, knitting centre, weaving, beading and a science lab. The children excitedly began investigating and discovering this week. Their enthusiasm was a delight to see.
We wish everyone a wonderful term ahead.
